#WishlistWednesday: Lace those Boots Up!

-POP (2)It’s getting crazy…there are too many things that I like and want. My closet can’t hold it all, but I love online window shopping. Now that we’re fully into the Fall season, boots are all I am searching for. I keep seeing these lace up booties everywhere, so I searched them up and found a few that I am dying to own. Now, personally…I may not get over the fact that I actually need to lace all of those laces, but they still are really cute.

Lace up booties, while some of them have insulation so you can wear them in the Winter, are mainly for Fall. Most of these boots could not hold up in the snow, and are purely for fashion (in my opinion), so I would not recommend wearing any of my choices in the depths of Winter. However, that should not prevent you from checking these picks out because they are certainly on my radar!!

Rampage Jeliana Lace Up Combat Booties, Rampage at Macy’s, $49.99

It’s boots like these that make me wish Macy’s was in Canada. They are so pretty and such a great price. There three things about these booties that caught my eye. First, the knit cuff at the top of the boot. That is beautiful and adds great detail to the boot. Second, the brown colour of the boot. I am such a fan of brown boots, and this is the perfect shade – not too dark, not too light. Third, the heel is the perfect height. Combat boots typically do not have heels, but this little one is great.

Troopa Boots, Steve Madden, $69.99

You can never go wrong with Steve Madden! I love these trooper boots, mainly because of how high the boot reaches on the calf. These boots are a little less “combat” looking (do you know what I mean?) and they are a little bit softer. The colour is rich and beautiful…and most importantly, they look really comfortable!!

Okeya Lace up Booties, Nine West, $149.00

These are interesting. The lace holes are offset which creates a cool look and I honestly haven’t seen anything like it! These are different from the traditional combat looking lace up boot, and that is because this is a wedge. Wedges are so comfortable, so I imagine these wouldn’t be too uncomfortable! I also want to point out the tab at the back of the neck of the boot. This will allow you to easy slip off the boot (provided that the laces are done up loose enough…)

Well there you go. Lace up booties seem to be everywhere, and these are some of my favourites! Of course, there are some black ones that are out there that are really nice, but they looked a little too combat for me (someday I might have to define what that means…) so I went for the brown. Plus, I feel that brown goes with a lot more of my Fall wardrobe!!

How do you like your boots? Do you go for laces? Let me know in the comments below!

Fall Essentials: Top Five

Fall Essentials

Happy Fall! It is officially the Fall season and the fashion is changing!! Good bye rompers, hello sweaters. For today’s post, (as you can see) I have compiled a few of my very favourite essentials when dressing in Fall. Most of the items shown above will be linked at the end of this post so you can get your essentials before the season goes into full swing!

The Plaid Shirt. This has become an absolute staple in my wardrobe – especially for the Fall season. There are so many ways you can wear a plaid shirt. My favourite way is open with an accent tank underneath. However, you can also wear it tied around your waist, or just as a regular button up!

The Excursion Vest. Vests are a great transition piece for the Fall season. When the weather is getting a little nippy, but you can’t stand to wear your parka just yet, this is an excellent option. I get my excursion or “puffer” vests from J.Crew Factory, but I have also found them at Old Navy in the past!

The Elbow Patch Sweater. This is one trend that I love. Soft knit sweaters with faux or real leather patches on the elbows! Although sweaters are a must-have during the Fall season, the elbow patch feature steps up your fashion game.

The Infinity Scarf. Infinity scarves are the best way to jazz up an outfit and keep warm. Infinity scarves come in all types of fabrics, but the woolen knit scarves are the best!! They can become the focal point of your look, or they can just simply keep you warm as Fall turns to Winter.

The Ankle Booties. I recently did a post on how much love ankle booties. Well, they are the perfect shoe for Fall. Closed toe is my favourite for Fall so that the warmth stays in. The only thing with booties, is you can’t necessarily wear them when the snow comes around – which is why they are perfect for the Fall season!

These are the essentials, but there are many other items that I could put on this list!! These are just the top five…can you tell how excited I am to wear Fall clothing? I’ve only been talking about it for a month now…

How excited are you for Fall? Are you beginning to wear your Fall clothes yet? Let me know in the comments below.

Outfit Details: Rural Life

There are many things to appreciate in life, and one of those things is a rural sunset. I love them and even more so, I love taking photos of the sunset. Which is why I like these photos, and the outfit that went with it! It was a beautiful night, so I decided to snap a few…

But the real reason I was on that farm road, was to capture this cute summer get up I put together! Other than dragging my sister to be my professional photographer (thanks sis), we had a grand old time. There isn’t much to this little number, but I want to share it as it is one of my favourite looks of the summer so far! I mean, any chance I get to wear this rust coloured hat from Nordstrom, is worth it, right?

Rust is one of my favourite colours to coordinate in an outfit because of its versatility. You can wear it in the summer, but it transfers well into the Fall season (which is quickly approaching). It is surprisingly very hard to find a rust coloured, felt hat. Like I mentioned above, I found this one at Nordstrom last season and it is quite the find. It is my favourite hat and with such a unique colour, it can pair with many things. This was literally the last rust hat for sale in North America…so I cherish it with all my heart…

I just found this dress during one of my thrifting extravaganzas, and to my surprise, it was new with tags (always a definite buy!!) from H&M!! The pattern throughout the dress and then the detailing on the bottom, give it a very “boho” feel. There are two ways that I like to wear this dress – off the shoulder and on the shoulder. It has the ability to cinch at the waist, so either look is possible!

Another great thing about a dress like this is that it transitions well into the Fall season because of the colour scheme. I mean it is a great summer piece, and the neckline suggests that it is made for hot weather…but if you doubled it up with some cute patterned tights (in Fall colours) and a comfy cardi, you are set!

The last piece I used in this ensemble are my favourite pair of tan wedges. I found them at Le Chateau this summer and they are my go-to’s. They are the perfect height and pretty much go with anything!! They are perfect for this look particularly because of the colour scheme. Unfortunately, I didn’t think to snap a close up of them (boo!)…so you’ll have to trust me on this one. Tan is always a good colour to work with as a neutral.

Rust, navy and tan is a great palette and perfect for a cool summer outfit – look forward to the Fall version (I am going to try and detail that in the next month for you guys!!).

Like I said, there isn’t much to this look. Which is why it is extremely simple! All you need is a hat, sundress and a great pair of wedges! You are set!

Make Room for the Two Piece

MAKE ROOM FOR THE TWO PIECESo you’ve got an event to attend, or maybe it’s super hot out and you’re feeling a little dressy? Why turn to the little black dress or stress over the perfect top and skirt combo? Fear no more ladies because there is a spunky new solution for your wardrobe problems…and it’s name is the two piece.

Two pieces consist of…well…two pieces – a top and a bottom. They match in either the same colour or print or wildly colour blocked as well. Whether the top is cropped or meets the skirt perfectly, it is a polished look and no one can deny how cute it is as well. There are so many different types out there – sexy, cute, and chic looks…all with two pieces!!

We have seen this beautiful style choice worn by celebrities like Sarah Hyland, Taylor Swift and Emma Stone – in very elegant ways, I may add:

These are such posh looks, worn in such an elegant way! However, when you aren’t attending red carpet events every other week, there are ways to incorporate the two piece into your wardrobe…and still be super cute! Which is why I want to show you some two piece looks that I love for fancy and casual occasions!!

The Transition Two Piece: I have never found such a cute knit two piece like this one, that not only can be worn in the Summer but also can be worn during the Fall. What I love about this two piece specifically, is the long sleeved crop top. This is such an interesting spin on the look and very in trend. The knit material is light for summer and warm for Fall. Another interesting feature of this look is the length of the skirt. While many two pieces include a mini skirt, that doesn’t always work for everybody. The knee-length skirt actually makes the torso look longer – throw in a fab pair of heels, and you are set to go!

   Buy a similar two-piece…

The Floral Two-Piece: Floral two pieces were super in this summer. This, especially, is a two piece that will never go out of style. The white back with the large floral print is simple and beautiful! No jewelry is needed with this outfit (which is another reason I love two pieces). This is an example of the mini skirt included in the two piece outfit. Worn the correct way, it can look cute and not too revealing. This would be the way to do it!

Buy this two piece…

The Short-Top Two Piece: Okay, so I kind of branded this two piece myself because, when I think traditional two piece, I tend to think skirt and top…but there are the rare sets that come with shorts and a top! The blue and white detail reminds me of china pattern which may sound a little drab…but it is quite the opposite, don’t you think? This is a Summer wear for sure, so this would have to be stashed away for next year…but why not get it on sale?

Buy this two piece…

The three pieces that I showed you above are three among many, many cute pieces out there!! I find success with two pieces at places like Winners, Marshalls and even thrift shops if you look really hard. Keep in mind that two pieces don’t always have to match. That’s the fun part…mix matching is part of the ordeal and colour blocking is really popular in this trend as well! It’s such a fun trend to try and definitely worth investing in as you could potentially be getting multiple outfits out of it!

Have you tried out the two piece look yet? If you have…how do you wear it best? Let me know in the comments below!!

Outfit Details: Downtown on a Saturday

Living outside the city isn’t exactly the most ideal situation, but when I do get to travel in, I make sure I document the process (obviously!) and this was one fun-filled day with my sister that I couldn’t pass up for a mini-photo shoot. Plus, sharing this cute and chic look with you was absolutely necessary!! This is one of my favourite looks to wear because I get to feel like I am wearing sweatpants…but it kind of looks like I am wearing denim!

Let’s get to the look…

I am really into jogger pants right now. They are extremely comfortable and I really cannot get enough of them! I currently own one pair of denim joggers, which are seen in this outfit. I grabbed these on sale from Garage when I did my massive outlet haul last month and they are probably my favourite pair of pants right now. I typically like wearing them high-waisted. 5

The thing with jogger pants is that they are so casual, you can wear them tight or loose. Since I don’t like having my pants super tight (unless they are meant to be tight), I size up in my joggers. By sizing up, you can tighten the drawstring and transform the pants into a different look!

Crop tops can be tacky if worn the wrong way, but with high-waisted pants, you can get away with looking fab instead of drab. Showing a bit of midriff never killed anyone, but don’t go overboard. The navy crop top I am wearing is from Garage as well. Keeping inside the blue family was what I was going for in this look – the navy plays off the light blue of the denim.

Having the blue undertone then really makes my black accessories pop – the shoes, hat and bag. I try to keep some kind of colour scheme – black and blue is perfect – especially against the colourful background!

Adding a little height is always a plus in any outfit and these heels are one of my most comfortable pairs and they are from Avon! Of course, you could wear low-top sneaks with these too (I have before), but I love a good pair of heels! These peep-toe shoes were my first choice for the look because they paired with the hat and bag really well.

I really love these sunglasses that I picked up from Banana Republic. I am not one for reflective aviators, but when I saw these babies, I needed them! With this look (and the black/blue scheme), they are the perfect accessory! The necklace I am wearing is from IcingThanks to my sister, who chose this piece – she figured that a butterfly was suitable with such a free looking outfit! She was right!

This is one of my absolute favourite looks. I can never get tired of it, and these joggers are my recent addiction!

My sister and I had such a fun day in the city! Exploring new places is fun and this alley was one for the memory books…and definitely a place to return to in the future!
