Pinterest Finds of the Week: The Last Seven

PINTEREST FINDS OF THE WEEKWell, I loved doing it so much the first time, I am doing it again. I am going to my favourite board on Pinterest (“Dream Closet”) and showing you some of the recent pins. This time, I am going to show you seven. Such a random number, right?

I pin so much I can’t even remember what I am bringing to you today. However, I can assure you that they will be super cute, relevant to the Fall weather, and somewhat easy to replicate. There also may be a common denominator in the pictures. I tend to do a very narrowed search for pins (“pink midi skirt outfit”) and then a cluster of pins will all have that one wardrobe item in them…so beware. I love doing this because then I get to see my wide range in things that I like! Let the pin looking begin!!

For this post, I am going to use my oh-so-populated board, “Dream Closet”.

1

There we go…You can see that I am kind of digging the Fall looks (but who isn’t?). So let’s get to reviewing, shall we?

I have no idea where I found this or why I found it…but I looove it. I love how the print is of a city! In case you were wondering, no this is not a black and white picture…that’s the shade scheme of the dress! So cute, right? I can just imagine twirling around in it with a pair of pink heels or bright blue heels…any pop of colour would work! I may have to find this dress and get it for myself (Thanksgiving present???)

Grey Castle Print Pleated Sleeveless Knee Length Vintage Midi Dress - Midi Dresses - Dresses:

I really love grey dresses (as you can see already). This midi dress is adorable for Fall, and how she has styled it below is just perfect. I can’t really tell if this is a dress or a skirt, but either way, I love how it cuts right below the knees! Personally, I would brighten it up a little bit with a pop of colour somewhere, however the way she has styled it is really chic and totally appropriate for any business casual event you have coming up!!

Love it...grey! always put soft with leather! might try with my black leather jacket:

Okay, so now do you see how I pin in categories? Or trends? If you scroll through my “Dream Closet”, the pins all fall around the same item of clothing. In this case, it looks to be a grey midi dress! This dress is such a great piece to have because you really don’t need anything. Even though it is a neutral shade, it takes the cake. A cute pair of black sliders and some great sunnies and you have yourself a look!

Love this dress for Fall:

I featured this on my post yesterday because I looove tan pants! This is one of my favourite pins right now. How she has put the pattern on top with the solid scarf and the tan pants is a perfect Fall look. Tan pants are so cute and a black and white striped shirt is a staple in any girl’s closet. This is definitely a look worth replicating!!

The perfect neutral outfit- camel skinnies, stripes and a black scarf!:

I love everything about this look – the plaid skirt, the sweater with elbow patches, the cognac pointed heels. It is such a cute outfit and it is certainly Fall worthy. Here, the focus is definitely in the skirt. The sweater is also a really nice piece and I adore the elbow patches. The thing with mini skirts in the Fall is that you can also wear them with tights and it takes it up a notch!!

autumn: wool sweater with elbow patches, plaid skirt, tights and cognac heels.:

The large stripe pattern in the top is beautiful. Usually, I don’t go for large block stripes, but this tank is particularly nice. The gold jewelry really accessorizes well with the black and white. Finally, the pop of red-orange in the pants completes the outfit. By having that pop of colour on the bottom and the pattern on the top, it balances out.

i am OBSESSED with this outfit/color scheme:

This look is one I actually recreated this past week! I am obsessed with the colour wine, and this black skater skirt is adorable. Especially with the lace trim around the bottom of the skirt – that detail is extra great. In the Fall, tights are a must because of the colder weather. I love the brown ankle booties as well…it is a nice contrast against the black!

Black lace & knits:

Those are my pins for the week!! Seven was a lot to review…but with the amount of pinning I have been doing lately, it’s kind of fun to look at each look. When you are pinning so fast, you don’t necessarily stop and look at it for a long period of time, right?

Do you have some picks that you would like to share? Leave a link to your favourite board below and I will go have a look…I am always looking for a little pinspiration!

Pinterest Finds of the Week: Way, way back…

PINTEREST FINDSFollow my blog with Bloglovin

By far, the most popular board that I have on Pinterest is my “Dream Closet” board. It is where I pin all the fab styles that I find, the looks that inspire me and the clothing that I must have…but today I am going way back into the archives of this board and taking a look at what I pinned over a week ago. I love doing this because this board of mine seems to move in trends. There may be a grouping of pins that are all focused on hot pink dresses, or a grouping of pins that are totally dedicated the nautical themed outfits…it really shows how I was thinking that particular day and I find that incredibly entertaining!

PIn

Alright, here we go…

I pinned this a long time ago. I still love it though. Coloured jeans are a favourite and in the Fall weather, they are a good way to keep the bright colours alive. What drew me into this look was the simplicity of it. She doesn’t look like she’s trying hard at all, and honestly probably just threw it on (not literally). What takes the look up a notch is the bling around her neck and the heels. Although this look would be great without the jewelry and the snazzy footwear, it just kicks it up that little step, which I think looks casually glamorous!

Child at Heart: How to Wear Denim and Chambray for Spring and Summer: 14 Denim Outfit Ideas:

I love it. I love it. I love it. How many times more could I say it? The leather, the olive, the cognac booties…absolutely stunning. This is such a great look for Fall as well. I love the colour olive (duh) and I also am having a huge thing for black leather right now. What is interesting about this leather look though is the jacket. I am on the fence about whether it is a jacket or a leather vest. Either is fabulous, but I am leaning towards the leather vest with a black sweater underneath. I think this looks so cozy but so cute at the same time! I would love to replicate this look!!

I can't tell if those are sleeves or gloves, either way its adorable!!:

This is the look that made me fall in love with herringbone. Although this is not true herringbone because it is the puffer vest from J.Crew Factory, it doesn’t matter. Herringbone patterns are so in trend and the way that it is worn in the look below is one of my favourites. Layers are great for the colder seasons and how this look has been styled is really emphasizing the chilly but comfy look. Scarf, flannel, herringbone puffer vest, and then the fedora is the cherry on top!

 :

I only picked three today because I want to leave some to review for next week and the following weeks after that…but these are three of my most favourites. How do I know that? Because I have tried to re-pin them about ten times since I originally pinned them, but run into the “Pssst…I think you have already pinned this to this board” error…you know that one? Yup. Guilty.

Current pin count on this Dream Board? 1000+… so head on over and take a look. I am sure you are bound to find something you like there!

Transition your Wardrobe: Summer Dresses

TRANSITIONINGAlthough we all love the Fall season, it is sad to say good bye to Summer. The hot, burning sun is gone, the cool Summer breezes are history and until next year, your best bet is to stash those Summer pieces away, right? Well, just hang on one second. There are a few select pieces that you can use in the Fall season that you may not think of. Today, I am going to show you some examples of transitioning your Summer dresses so you can hold on to that last little glimpse of the Summer season.

With the right accessories, you won’t have to say goodbye to your cute little sun dresses that you thought were only for Summer! I am going to show you by using these simple tips, you will keep the Summer looks alive, with a Fall twist.

Work that Utility Vest. The utility vest is probably the easiest way to dress up a summer dress. Take a look at this super cute black and white thin stripe t-shirt dress (left). This is a really cute Summer look…so why would you want to toss it in the back of your closet, until the hot summer rays rain down again? You wouldn’t. Now, take a look at how she transitioned this dress into Fall wear (right). The khaki utility vest brings in the Fall tones, completely transitioning the outfit into a different season (yes, it is that easy…)

Short Sleeve Stripes Dress. Throw on cute little sneakers or flip flops and it's a casual day at the beach:):      Striped dress + utility vest

Recycle those Florals! Floral is often seen as a “Summer-only” pattern. For a while, I totally agreed with that statement, however this season, we are seeing a lot more patterns come into play for the Fall. I have been seeing florals recycled into Fall outfits (which I have to admit, is not so bad). Now, the two photos below are different dresses/patterns (obviously), but I would like to point out, just because the bright colours (left) are typically styled for Summer, doesn’t mean you couldn’t transition this type of bright pattern like the darker outfit shown (right). Fall doesn’t have to be dark tones across the board…we need a little bright colour in our lives!! How she layered with the belt, knit infinity, cardigan and (especially) the tights are an excellent way to transition your cute Summer sundress.

Floral Rose Dress. Pink Cardigan. Teen Fashion. By-Iheartfashion14 →follow←:      Scarf and Tights with cute dress. Great fall ...:

Don’t put that LBD away. I always love to find a way to keep wearing the little black dress (or six) that I own. First of all, black pretty much flies in any season (never put away the black). Again, this is a great example of layering. I wouldn’t say that you had to layer the little black dress if you wanted to wear it out…but if you want to keep cozy and go for that true, Fall look…then pay attention to this lady with the puppy (right). She has accessorized with an oversized cardi (love!), and wine accessories (my love for wine is strong…). This is one look to replicate for the Fall, for sure. As an added bonus, the high knee socks top this look off.

Love this dress! Check out some similar ones from Southern Elle Style http://www.shopsouthernelle.com/blogfeed/the-4-types-of-lbds-you-should-own:      I would like this outfit a million times better if the model took her socks off:

Those are my three best ways to transition Summer dresses. I would have loved to show you my rendition of these outfits (and I probably soon will)…but between essays, papers and volunteer work…there just wasn’t enough time to prep it for you. Perhaps I will come out with a part two of this post (hmmm, the wheels are turning!).

How do you transition your dresses? Do you step out in your Summer florals in the Fall? Let me know in the comments below!!

Pinterest Finds of the Week: The Last Four

PINTEREST FINDS OF THE WEEKIn the past, I have picked a topic or area of fashion to review with regard to what pins I have pinned that week. Whether I have focused on the colour pink, or trendy fashion, I have shown you the pins that I have found and liked, and reviewed them right here for you!

Well, today, I don’t want to have such a structure as that. I am going to go into my board now, with no knowledge of what I have just pinned and just choose the most recent four. Why am I doing this? Well, this way you can see the cross section of styles that I truly like – because I do have a cross section. Sometimes I love midriff tops, sometimes I am dying over oxfords under sweaters…it truly depends on the way it is styled…so here we go:

For this post, I am going to use my oh-so-populated board, “Dream Closet”

Pinterest Dream Board

There we go…You can see that I am kind of digging the Fall looks (but who isn’t?). So let’s get to reviewing, shall we?

What caught my eye to pin this? That’s easy…the olive shirt, obviously. Last week, I went over several of my favourite olive coloured items. This is one of my favourite colours right now and worn in a shirt is to-die-for, if you ask me! I don’t usually go for ripped jeans, but with this laid back look, they are totally working. I am one for cuffing my jeans. I just think it makes for an interesting and cute look (so don’t go and get your jeans hemmed!!). Another colour I obsessed with right now, is cognac. These cognac sandals and bag are probably the best accessory pieces to go with this laid back look. Plus, you can never go wrong with Steve Madden.

If you aren’t a fan of Blake Lively, we can’t be friends. Even after her GG days, I was obsessed. She has the most impeccable style and class, and of course, her husband is g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s! I also kind of love that he is Canadian…but we’re talking about her! This outfit is so cute – she really works the blanket scarf well, and her bag is probably the best thing that I have seen. What I want to highlight about this look is the colour scheme! I’m not entirely sure when this photo was taken, but judging by the neutrals and blacks used throughout the look, it’s Fall (even better!). The focal point is definitely her blanket scarf, but what I like is that the bag can also be the focal point…but not so much that it is upstaging the scarf. I just love her.

Blake Lively's latest street style is all shoppable!!!:

Other than the fact that this couple is adorable…her outfit is also super cute. It kind of reminds me of Blair Waldorf (which is not a bad thing, by any means). I put these two pins together (I found them on separate occasions), only because it’s literally the same girl, same outfit. As you know, I love cable knit, blaid, winter white…everything. So this outfit is actually perfectly in accordance with my taste. I really love her red beanie hat…I think that really makes the outfit pop…otherwise the outfit is mainly neutral, ties in with the scenery and overall just a really nice look. I’d also like to point out her cognac leather gloves…those are adorable too and definitely

Black gingham shirt, white cable sweater, green plaid skirt, nude heels, red beanie, tan crossbody & sparkly necklace. Classy Girls Wear Pearls.: one of my favorite purchases this season was this plaid skirt by J.Crew; styled impeccably by Sarah Vickers.:

This is such a useful look to keep in your back pocket. It can be worn to work, but you can also wear it casually as well! The oxford dresses it up, while the skirt can play it down a bit. My favourite part of this outfit is the colour scheme (shocker!!). I really love navy blue, and the pops of red in the clutch and heels are perfectly in line with what I would wear (and love). If you didn’t want to go so dressy with the oxford (or the heels), you could switch it out with a casual vneck and flats, or even just a regular t-shirt. This is just the simplest look and really looks good in any situation!!

Would love to hijabify this.. wide leg pants in the same fabric as that skirt would be cute with the same shoes and shirt

There you have it…the new spin on “Pinterest Finds of the Week”. I kind of like this format, only because it’s not so structured…and you never know what I’m going to pin (it is my favourite pastime, you know…)!

Do you have some picks that you would like to share? Leave a link to your favourite board below and I will go have a look…I am always looking for a little pinspiration!

#WishlistWednesday: Infinity Scarves

BannerWednesday is probably my favourite day of the week! I get to go through my wishlists, it’s almost the weekend, and best of all, I get to sleep in (no morning class, woohoo!!). I am especially excited for this Wednesday because I get to break down my love for infinity scarves.

What is an infinity scarf? An infinity scarf is a scarf that has no ends. Literally, that is the definition. It’s basically a loop that you just pull over you neck – easy to style, looks cute and keeps you warm (especially when those chilly Fall winds are blowing).

Last year, I really got into the infinity scarf – especially the huge wool or knit ones. I love how you can bury your face in them and how they are so cozy. Some of my favourite Fall looks include infinity scarves (the big cozy ones), and unlike a blanket scarf or a regular long scarf, they are so easy to style. Just plump them up around your neck just the way you want them and you are ready to go!!

Chunky Knit Infinity ScarfPaula Bianco at Nordstrom Rack, $22.97

Does this not look like the warmest scarf ever? I would love to have this thing around my neck all day!! This is the kind of scarf that would keep you nice and toasty in the Winter time, but act as the perfect focal accessory in the Fall. I love the pattern throughout and the colour is gorgeous. This scarf also comes in cream, which would just be beautiful in the Fall.

Pretty Little Things XL Heavy Scarf, shoptiques.com, $39.00

I love the colour maroon (partially because that is my university colour), because it is dark but not depressing. Sometimes, the colour black drowns a person out. Too much black or navy can make the look too dark, but with maroon, the there is still that brightness of red mixed in so that it breaks up a look. Also, when put against a cream or white backdrop (whether you are wearing cream pants or a sweater, like in the photo below), it really pops and becomes the draw of anyone’s eye! That’s exactly what I love about this heavy scarf! It draws the eye.

Colourblock Infinity ScarfPaula Bianco at Nordstrom Rack, $22.97

I’m surprised I haven’t written about colour blocking yet…because I am a huge fan of it. Coloru blocking is when blocks of solid colour are worn in one outfit. Whether you do this yourself by wearing solids together, or buy items that are already colour blocked…it’s a great trend and so easy to do. This scarf is colour blocked which is interesting because it is knit. I think the colour block throughout the knitting looks fabulous and so chic. It kind of gives you your colour scheme right there, so pairing this with the right outfit would be simple (stick within that colour scheme).

Well there it is…all of the infinity scarves on my wishlist right now! I have to say, I have a thing for specifically knit scarves, it seems! They are just so comfortable to wear with a cardigan or just a long sleeved tee and step up your look when you’re in a hurry!! No need for jewelry (well, I mean you can still wear jewelry with a scarf…), just throw on the scarf and dash out the door!

Look forward to an upcoming post that I will do on styling infinity scarves!! Not there are too many ways to style them, but there are other pieces in your wardrobe that look great with them…and you may not even have thought to combine the two!! I should do that in the next week or so…

All scarves featured in this post are linked below for your shopping needs!!

Do you have a specific infinity scarf that you love? Or a favourite way to wear it? Let me know in the comments below!!
