Whimsical Wrap Dress

Summer is in full swing, and what better way to celebrate the sunny season than with a whimsical getaway?! A couple of weeks ago, I hopped on a plane and spontaneously flew to Punta Cana! Punta Cana is such a magical place, and every moment I was there, I felt like a true princess.

Vacations are a time to kick back and relax, but also the time to experiment with your style! Tropical prints, light fabric, and bold colours are all apart of the vibes you can play with! Before this getaway, I had never ventured to the islands, or anywhere remotely tropical…so needless to say, it was my opportunity to have FUN!

PinkBlush is one of my go-to boutiques for fun prints and feminine style. I literally always find something that makes me feel amazing. This beautiful wrap tie dress caught my eye instantly when I was curating my vacation looks. I just love the vibes it gives off. This isn’t a dress I would normally gravitate to because the print is outside my comfort zone. However, I took a chance and I am SO glad that I did.

I love the ruffle detail in the neckline, and how it ties around the waist. It’s such a unique and fun style, and perfect for your tropical getaway! The pops of colour in the print really resonated with me, and I feel like it’s just such a simple dress to style. Here, I styled it with my go-to flip flops, but throwing on a pair of neutral wedges takes the look to a whole new level!

As always, PinkBlush didn’t let me down, and I continue to drool over their perfectly feminine styles.

CHEERS!

Packing for a Weekend Getaway: Part One

BANNER

Whether your trip is far away, or just in the next town over, there are a few essential things to keep in mind when planning a getaway! In this post, I am going to give an overview of what to bring with you, what to think about when you are heading out of town, and how to pack lightly!

Pack your clothing accordingly. You want to make sure that you are dressing for the climate, the situation, and the time you spend away. This weekend, I will be doing some hard core, major shopping. In my experience (I do this every year), for an outlet haul as I am planning, there is no need to look pretty or flashy – it is all about the comfort. I don’t know about you, but I just can’t make it six hours in flip flops around a mall (nope, not happening!). Below, I have included a typical outfit that I would wear on a go-go-go vacation, such as outlet shopping: 1338

Pack your bathing suit!! For some reason, time and time again, I forget my bathing suit on little excursions like this one. This is why I have multiple bathing suits in my closet, that have all been purchased on a whim because I needed something to swim in! So now, I have moved this to the top of the list, when packing. I love to swim and there is not a hotel pool that I won’t go for a morning dip in!!

Books, galore! Summer is my high-time for reading. Chances are, you are going to have some downtime on your vacation, and why not spend that time catching up on your summer reading list? I just finished one of the best book series that I have read in a long time, so I am on the hunt for a good read for this weekend! (Just in case you are wondering, the book series is “If I Break” by Portia Moore…read it…you will not be sorry!).

How to Pack Lightly

You don’t need to haul three large suitcases when only heading away for two or three days. I try to limit the amount of things that I take with me, knowing that I want to shop and bring some things back. When I start to pack, I keep one rule in mind: I can only bring one overnight bag and my purse.

Before I put everything in my one bag, I lay it all out on the bed (so I can see exactly what I am taking). I always like to plan my looks ahead – this is one of my ‘obsessive’ traits…

After I have gone over the essentials (bathing suit included), I put everything in the one bag! Everything should fit, and if you find that the bag is too full…then take it all out and reconsider what you packed in the first place! Do you really need three pairs of shoes for one weekend? Yes? Get creative then…

Hopefully you enjoyed these tips, and you can take some of them into consideration when dashing away for the weekend next time! Look forward to ‘Packing for a Weekend Getaway: Part Two’ next Thursday, where I will break down some getaway looks!
