Outfit Details: Wrapped in a Scarf

of detailsThe day after Thanksgiving is always really relaxed and packed full of movie ‘marathon-ing’ and turkey leftovers. However today, everything re-opens and it’s time to have some fun! My week off from school is going to be full of doing fun, Fall things! Apple picking, going to the farmer’s market, and baking galore are only a few things on my list!

Today, I continue my latest series “A Thanksgiving Series of details!” by Pearls and Polkadots. Yesterday, I showed you my 2015 Thanksgiving look, which was a mix between dressy and casual, and today I want to show you my second look! There will be five outfits this week in total, so make sure you return to get the details on each look that I will be releasing!

Today’s Look: Striped long sleeve top, dark blue jeans, cognac ankle boots, blanket scarf, leopard print skinny belt, and red cross body clutch!

The weather has been so beautiful lately, which is like a mix between Summer and Fall! I am loving it! However, the long sleeve was a necessity because of the cool Fall breeze that was blowing around! I found this black and white Kate Spade Saturday striped long sleeve at Winners, if you can believe it! They are beginning to stock Kate Spade product more and more (and I am so grateful)! I love to mix patterns, and two patterns that I love wearing together are plaid and stripes.

2

I chose to go dark in the colour of my jeans because it doesn’t take away from the focus of the outfit, which is more in the top half of the look. The dark blue jeans are more of a neutral in this outfit than anything, however, they also seem to pick up some of the darker shades in the plaid blanket scarf. These jeans are from American Eagle Outfitters, and I have had them for a while but their jeans are really great!

4

These are probably my favourite pair of ankle boots! I got them on sale last year on Boxing Day from The Bay. They are Ralph Lauren and pretty much go with anything. Cognac coloured boots are my favourite because they are so warm looking. The colour is so rich and pretty that it can pick up the warm tones in any look. I chose this pair for this look because they pick up the tan in the scarf!

6

Blanket scarves are one of my favourite things about Fall! The plaid, the texture, the look…it’s all there and I love how throwing one on can transform your look. Adding that last piece is perfect! In fact, this look puts the focus completely on the scarf because it is the focal point of the look. There are so many ways you can wear a blanket scarf and in this look, I decided to belt it. I picked up the scarf last year from Garage Clothing, but you can pretty much find this scarf anywhere.

9

Stripes, plaid and leopard print is the perfect recipe for a Fall outfit. Leopard print accessories are always a good idea and in this case, it’s an excellent idea. The tan in the leopard draws out the tan in the blanket scarf and the gold buckle acts as a gold detail overall. Belting your blanket scarf is only one of many wears you can wear it and for Fall, it is such a great one!

7

There is nothing better than a little red cross body clutch, and this one is a dream. The detail on the bag is perfect and the colour goes with the red colour in the scarf! Little cross bodies like this one are perfect for an outing in the Fall because there is just enough space to store the things you need!

8

Well, those are the details of my second Thanksgiving look of the series! This outfit was so much fun to assemble and after looking at belted blanket scarf looks on Pinterest the past few weeks, it was great to get out and try and make it my own. This look is rather casual for a Thanksgiving dinner, but I would totally rock this for Thanksgiving festivities…maybe preparation of the dinner? Who knows! It screams Fall and is one of my favourites…

Outfit Details: Thanksgiving in the Fall

Banner

This past weekend was so much fun! I ate a wonderful turkey meal, got to spend quality time with the family and relax completely! It was a weekend full of happiness and love, which is my favourite kind of weekend! So what brings this weekend full of joy? Thanksgiving, that is! In Canada, we give thanks in October. Everything is perfect from the Fall colours to the smell of turkey that consumes the household!

I thought that it would be fun if this week I made Pearls and Polkadots into a landing ground for looks. Outfit details for five days in a row! There will be dressy looks, classic looks and casual looks and I am calling it “A Thanksgiving Series of details!”…so make sure you return to get the details on each look I will be putting out!!

Today’s Look: Olive green sleeveless turtleneck, tan pants, cognac boots, gold necklace, and leopard clutch!

This weekend’s weather was beautiful, and surprisingly pretty warm. So it was necessary to dress appropriately and what better to dress in than a sleeveless turtleneck? Keep in mind, it is still Fall, so it wasn’t boiling like a hot summer day. I could definitely get away with this cozy sleeveless turtleneck from Winners! The olive green is one of my favourite colours and perfect for the Fall colours that have taken over my neighborhood!

2

I paired the turtleneck with tan coloured pants that I picked up at Old Navy last year. These are “pixie pants”. I love them and they are my favourite pants to dress in. They stretch so they fit my shape really well, and they are comfortable because they mimic leggings! If you were reading last week, I did a whole post on how much I love the colour tan, and more specifically, tan pants! Tan pants are a staple in my wardrobe…I wear them with pretty much everything!

4

I am pretty much obsessed with these boots. I got them on sale last Boxing Day and they are from Guess. They aren’t too high, and the colour is so rich. I can wear the colour with everything and more importantly, they do not hurt my feet at all! The gathered leather around the calf also gives the look a neat look. They aren’t so straight legged, which is perfect when you are going for a more dressy look (like a look for Thanksgiving…).

6

Gold jewelry steps a look up in any case. I much prefer gold jewelry to silver jewelry, only because it goes with more. The warm undertone of the metallic gold is an added bonus in any look, especially this one. I also think that gold picks up the tones in the tan pants, which is nice. This necklace is from Ardene – I love stopping by to get inexpensive costume jewelry here (when you’re a student…you have to keep to a budget) – it does the trick and looks nice!

8

I have had a thing for leopard print for a while now. My sister bugs me because she thinks it’s tacky, but when used correctly, I think it can look really fun and full of style! Now, there are limits when it comes to the print. I don’t own any clothing items (shirts, sweaters, etc…) that I would wear out (except a onesie…but that’s different), but purses, belts, shoes…I love to wear because it’s a print that can really step up your look. This clutch is from J.Crew Factory and it is the perfect clutch for family gatherings because it holds pretty much everything you need!

3

So there are the details of my first Thanksgiving look of the series! I love assembling outfits and even more, I love giving the details! There’s something to be said about looking polished – not just for a dinner, but in general. I love to dress up and I will never stop. It is the whole reason I began this blog in the first place! Sharing what I love to do…which is dress up in outfits and take pictures! Fashion is my passion…

Outfit Details: Cozy for Fall

Now that Fall is in full swing, I have switched out my wardrobe permanently! It is the season of mini skirts, tights, sweaters, jeans, boots, and scarves – all the coziest of my wardrobe any way. In this look, I was going for comfortable in Fall, with, of course the chic look as well. These cozy items are some of my Fall favorites and make the perfect look for these chilly October days.

1

One the important items to keep at the front of your closet this season is your comfortable cardigans. This cardigan is one I picked up from Winners. You know when you see something and envision it with other pieces in your wardrobe? Well that’s exactly what this cardigan was. I really like the camel colour and it is softer than you can believe.

2

The maroon pants are actually from last season at Old Navy. Pixie pants are my favourite, because they fit my short little legs and they are always a perfect fit! I selected this pair particularly because of the maroon colour. Dark reds are very in this season, so this was an easy choice.

3

I don’t wear this too much because it has got a full zipper that goes up the back and that is super tricky to do on your own! However it is so, so pretty on! It is from mark. by Avon in last year’s collection. It’s a high low style which is always an added bonus. I wanted a neutral top to not overshadow the maroon accents, which is why I went with a neutral cream. Simply beautiful.

6

Accessories are always important, but in this case, they are more of the focal point. This is my newest add to my hat collection and is oh-so-adorable for the Fall season! I got this from Winners as well (shocker!!). I really like felt hats because they can be worn in the Summer and in the Fall. It’s the perfect transition accessory. This necklace that I am wearing is one from the mark. by Avon collection and it is beautiful on!

5

Last but not least, my booties. My favourite pair of ankle booties! They are a great shade of camel and perfect for the Fall season! The colour picks up on the colour in my cardigan and even can act as a semi-neutral in the look! I also love to boost my look with a great pair of heels because it makes my legs look longer! (Please excuse the growing weeds…that’s what happens when you pick an abandoned location, I guess).

4

Fun little fact, I shot this look with my sister at the end of August. So you can imagine that it wasn’t the coolest day! Now that Fall is here, chilly weather has arrived, I can wear all of these lovely pieces and strut away!

Outfit Details: Homecoming Fashion

This past weekend was my last university homecoming weekend/celebration and it was a blast! Free stuff, football games, hot dogs, Starbucks, amazing breakfasts, cheers…I could go on forever. It was a spectacular weekend full of fun, friends and smiles…but most of all, the fashion was on point. A few weeks ago, I gave you three prime hoco looks for her, so that you could dress your best for those winning moments of fun…so it’s only right if I share how I dressed for the weekend of the Fall!

Spoiler Alert: This is not the most glamorous look you have seen…trust me. I mean, the important thing is that I had school spirit, right?? However, it held up in the beautiful weather, and looked cute too.

2

For this look, it was all about trying to incorporate school spirit and the school colours: maroon and grey. Now, out of the two, I picked maroon because it is my favourite over grey (obviously). Being the spirited individual I am, I have a lot of university clothing. Since it was a football game, I picked my #1 jersey (to be festive for the football game)!

3

Along with the jersey, it was high waisted jeans and striped knee socks! I wear these knee socks to pretty much every football game. I don’t know why, but it doesn’t feel like a true football game without the knee socks. They are so fun and cute, plus when it gets into the cool Fall weather, they keep you nice and warm!

4

I have highlighted these shoes before. I picked these up this past summer at Payless Shoesource for literally nothing and I have worn them out, but they are by far, the most comfortable pair of sneakers that I own. They look cute with almost everything…so thank you City Sneaks.

5

This is probably my favourite way to wear my hair now – bows,  bows and more bows! I only own one (made by Auntie Marisa’s Homemade Bows) and it absolutely adorable! I was going to wear a baseball cap, but when I found this bow, I just had to do my hair up in it (to be festive, of course!). I have to say, however, wearing my hair down on a windy day was not the best decision…but for the pictures beforehand, it made for some cute looks!!

1

At the end of the day, the focus is on the players, the school and winning (because we are the best) and I am happy to report that we celebrated our university right into the win that we deserve! Number one we are, and number one we will stay!!

Outfit Details: Rural Life

There are many things to appreciate in life, and one of those things is a rural sunset. I love them and even more so, I love taking photos of the sunset. Which is why I like these photos, and the outfit that went with it! It was a beautiful night, so I decided to snap a few…

But the real reason I was on that farm road, was to capture this cute summer get up I put together! Other than dragging my sister to be my professional photographer (thanks sis), we had a grand old time. There isn’t much to this little number, but I want to share it as it is one of my favourite looks of the summer so far! I mean, any chance I get to wear this rust coloured hat from Nordstrom, is worth it, right?

1

Rust is one of my favourite colours to coordinate in an outfit because of its versatility. You can wear it in the summer, but it transfers well into the Fall season (which is quickly approaching). It is surprisingly very hard to find a rust coloured, felt hat. Like I mentioned above, I found this one at Nordstrom last season and it is quite the find. It is my favourite hat and with such a unique colour, it can pair with many things. This was literally the last rust hat for sale in North America…so I cherish it with all my heart…

3

I just found this dress during one of my thrifting extravaganzas, and to my surprise, it was new with tags (always a definite buy!!) from H&M!! The pattern throughout the dress and then the detailing on the bottom, give it a very “boho” feel. There are two ways that I like to wear this dress – off the shoulder and on the shoulder. It has the ability to cinch at the waist, so either look is possible!

4

Another great thing about a dress like this is that it transitions well into the Fall season because of the colour scheme. I mean it is a great summer piece, and the neckline suggests that it is made for hot weather…but if you doubled it up with some cute patterned tights (in Fall colours) and a comfy cardi, you are set!

The last piece I used in this ensemble are my favourite pair of tan wedges. I found them at Le Chateau this summer and they are my go-to’s. They are the perfect height and pretty much go with anything!! They are perfect for this look particularly because of the colour scheme. Unfortunately, I didn’t think to snap a close up of them (boo!)…so you’ll have to trust me on this one. Tan is always a good colour to work with as a neutral.

2

Rust, navy and tan is a great palette and perfect for a cool summer outfit – look forward to the Fall version (I am going to try and detail that in the next month for you guys!!).

Like I said, there isn’t much to this look. Which is why it is extremely simple! All you need is a hat, sundress and a great pair of wedges! You are set!
