My Wine Picks!

MyMy mind is fluttering at the thought of Fall colours, coming into the cool season. Last week, I talked to you about a very attractive colour palette for fashion in the autumn weather that we are all looking forward to. Well, in today’s post, I am going through some of my favourite wine-coloured picks that are on the market right now! Let me just say that this little extension of #WishlistWednesday, is the perfect post to tide you over until the weekend (that’s when we all go on shopping sprees, right?) and you may want to keep this beauty of a colour in mind!

Some people call it burgundy, maroon or crimson…but wine is truly the perfect name for the colour! Why? Well, wine comes in several shades. It really encompasses all of those colours and by referring to it with this label, people definitely will know what you mean when you talk about it (assuming everyone is talking about the labels of shades and colours…). With wine in mind, maybe this post will inspire you to visit somewhere like glendale cellars, hopefully in some of your finest wine clothes, too!

Whether you are wearing a wine accessory, like the beautiful felt hat I have linked from Nordstrom, or making a statement in wine with a jumpsuit, like the satin beauty I have linked from J.Crew – wine is the colour to hunt for! I have picked up some wine coloured sweaters for this season and I can’t wait to strut my stuff in them as the leaves turn colour. I am going to show you two things today:

1) My choice wine looks.

2) Where you can find some great wine items.

This is a great look and a perfect example of how to wear the colour. Paired with complimentary shades – black and white. What I love most about this look (in addition to the wine) is how coordinated every accessory is. The black fedora and matching bag match the leather skater skirt. The use of black and white are almost “neutrals” in a way, making the wine jacket pop completely.

This is the perfect Fall look and one I cannot wait to replicate. The wine, worn in the pant and accessories compliment the camel coloured cardigan very well. I am really loving this bag that she is carrying, by the way. I think that wine bags are completely appropriate for the season and pair really well if you don’t want to strut with wine being the main colour in your look. That being said, a wine coloured pant is not the ultimate statement – if you wear a darker shade of wine (nearing burgundy) with a lighter coloured top, it will downplay and take the focus away from the pant.

This is a super cute way to incorporate wine into a look. Wine tights are a thing, and I love it! It is so different from the usual black or navy, and I love the different look it portrays! Especially in this look, there are so many darker shades of colorus (navy, brown, etc.) and the wine really plays well off the floral pattern in the dress! I hadn’t actually seen wine coloured tights until today on Pinterest, which is one reason why this look has made into today’s post…and why I will be picking up a pair of wine tights!

The items that I showed in the three outfit reviews, are unfortunately not linked below. However, I have linked the items I picked out for my banner (which are all available in-store right now – just use the links below!!). My top three items of my wine picks are:

furrybag c021ab0cf1e5131bfcaab3ed5d35ea36_best be1fc6a9d8e482fca05bf6c10e8f55ff_best

I have a thing for wierd items and this furry clutch falls into that category completely. Not only is it cute and quirky, it would be a great pillow on the commuter train! This jumpsuit has been on my radar for a while…I just need it to go on sale (if only it would go on sale!!) and then I can snatch it right up. Finally, this anchor bracelet is adorable. I looove anchors and how simple casual is this? Such an easy bracelet to wear in any season, really!

Well, there you have it – my wine picks. Hopefully you will take these cute pieces into consideration (or find your own fab pieces!!). Wine is the Fall colour that’s taking over, and I am perfectly okay with that!! Let me know how you wear this shade in the comments below!

#WishlistWednesday: Kicking Back in the Joggers

#WISHLISTWEDNESDAYDo you jog? No? That’s completely fine…I don’t either (don’t judge). I still looove jogger pants. I have one pair that I am completely obsessed with that I got from Garage Clothing and I have worn them several times over. I just can’t get enough of how comfy and casual they are, while still pulling off a dressed up look. Don’t get me wrong…joggers are 100% casual…but if you want to dress them up, it is totally possible!

Since I picked up a pair, I have been starry eyed over them. I want them in all colours, just so I can have options. You know when you have a burning desire to wear sweatpants…but don’t want to look like a slob (because let’s face it…you do)? Jogger pants are the complete solution! I have picked out a few pairs that I want in my closet, and I have even linked some awesome pairs below!

Knit Jogger in Dusty Olive, American Eagle Outfitters, $55.16

1

These jogger pants are the perfect colour, material and overall look! I have said before that olive is a great colour and a standout colour for the Fall season. Picking up a pair of these for the upcoming chilly weather would be a comfy and cozy add to your closet! I love my joggers and I could have a hundred pairs if I could! These are definitely on my wishlist this week (before Fall is in full swing, of course!).

Crinkled Crepe Joggers, Forever 21, $15.90

For such an amazing price, these crimson pants are lovely. I think they fit into the Fall colour palette, and would be super comfortable – especially heading back into the study season. When you are spending hours in the library studying for mid-term after mid-term, you don’t want to be in super tight jeans, you want to have something comfy. Jogger pants in general are comfy and these are no different!

Pull-On Denim JoggersOld Navy, $25.00

Denim joggers are my favourite. The pair of joggers that I own are mimic denim! Why do I love them the best? Well, I will tell you! I love them because they don’t resemble sweatpants! Sweatpants, in my opinion, look a little sloppy when people are wearing them in public…well that problem is solved with denim joggers. They really do resemble jeans (obviously they are not) but they are SO COMFORTABLE!! Thank goodness that Old Navy stocks joggers…because they are just too affordable to pass up!

Those are my jogger picks for the week. Although I am completely content with the joggers that I own now, I love to browse and shop (what girl doesn’t?). I can’t wait to stock up on these babies when they go on sale (hopefully soon!!).

I leave you with a few shots of my favourite pair of joggers from Garage (because I am obsessed):

Instagram Takeover: The Blog Love Project

BannerBeing connected to the blogging community, there are a lot of different Facebook groups that I have joined in order to promote and support other blogs in addition to my own (bloggers support bloggers, right?). Through these communities, I have met many bloggers in different niches and created great friendships. So when the opportunity arose to take over the Instagram of The Blog Love Project, I jumped at the chance.

I have never participated in an Instagram takeover, and it was a great experience that I will definitely do again! The takeover just happened to be on the day I was heading into the city to see a baseball game!! It was such a sunny, hot and overall amazing day which was great for posting pictures!

In today’s post, I am going to review my takeover of The Blog Project and tell you the story of what a day it was!!

August 16, 2015 – What a Morning!

1 2 3

Bright and early on Sunday morning, I woke up to the bright sun and clear skies – perfect for a baseball game! Before I took over The Blog Love Project, I thought about how I wanted to go about posting. Did I want to post every hour? Every two hours? Well…there are some guidelines when taking over an account. You don’t want to completely spam the account – viewers will get bored of you, or they will get tired of seeing your posts!

Spread out the photos. This will create more activity because the viewers that are looking will look forward to seeing the next few posts instead of thinking that you post too much!!

4 5 6

The game was absolutley fantastic, and even though my friends and I were up in the “nose-bleed seats”, we still had a grand ole’ time!! The advantage of having seats up above is you can see all of the action from a distance, and at the same time, you can enjoy the sun (wearing sunscreen, of course!). Being the style blogger that I am, I love the baseball look. I got to rep my hometown’s team, while looking pretty cute (if I do say so myself!). Throughout the day, I made sure to tell a story in the takeover.

Leave your viewers wanting more. That is one tip that is great! When you have a picture limit (which for me was 6-8 photos), you want to make sure that those photos engage the viewers! I tried to promote  the next activity I was going to do, so that when a viewer reads the caption…they remember to look back for more! You are telling a story, essentially!

7 8

To end the takeover, I gave a last look at the field (after a great win!), a snap of the CN tower and then a quick shot of my comfy shoes for the ride home! I wanted to tie the whole takeover together by showing me going home and ending the day on a good note! All in all, it was a lovely day, and it only seemed right to end the takeover with the end of my day!

Keeping it under ten photos. Ten photos in a day is plenty for a takeover…or even your personal account! I kept the number at eight (mainly because of the guidelines that I was given). That is a great number though! Keeps you away from the “spam” category and also allows you to tell a story throughout the day!

Taking over The Blog Project‘s Instagram was entertaining and such a great way to connect with other viewers! I highly recommend you check out their blogger group on Facebook and try for an opportunity to do it yourself. At the very least, you will meet some amazing people and form relationships (perfect for new bloggers!).

Outfit Details: Tropical Threads a’Flowing

Summer fashion is full of tropical patterns, sheer threads and flowing dresses! Which is why today I am detailing one of my favourite dresses from mark. by Avon. This dress is last summer’s dress of the season and happened to be one of my Christmas gifts this year. Being that I received the dress in the dead of winter, it hasn’t gotten much use. However, on my recent weekend getaway, this dress was the perfect night out look for dinner and a stroll through town!

This tropical statement dress does all the work when wearing it out. The detail on the top half of the dress in the pattern and the beading makes jewelry unnecessary. I decided to pair the dress with minimal arm candy, including my watch. To finish the look, I included my favourite pair of turquoise sandals with leopard trim around the sole, that I also bought from mark. by Avon.

23

High-low dresses are right in style this season, and I have to say…the style is quite practical as well. The high cut in the front allows there to be a little leg action, while you are totally covered in the back. This naturally lets the dress be swept around, creating a magical and tropical look!

1

I have seen this dress styled many different ways, however, when I put the dress on and went to style it…I thought to myself, why dress it up, when it is already dressy? Jewelry would take away from the wild pattern in the thread. Heels would be a good compliment to the high-low cut, but they aren’t totally necessary. Adding any other accessories would need to be neutralizers to the pattern because you don’t want to upstage or compete with the pattern itself…

So that’s how this look came about…

The dress is the superstar of this look. The dress is the look! Dresses are easy looks to style and this one was ridiculously easy!! I highly recommend any fun patterned high-low dresses for your summer wardrobe!

Inside My Mind: Personal Goals v7

BannerCan you believe that we are coming into the third week of August? It’s like I blinked and the summer ended. I am running around getting ready to go back to school, helping my sister get her things ready to begin here freshmen year at university – things are crazy. That doesn’t leave a ton of time for goal completing, now does it? Well you would think that…but I actually got some things accomplished this week! So let’s take a look back on last week’s goals…

Last week, I set one goal for myself (in addition to 2 existing goals):

1. Be more active on neglected social media platforms – Did I use Twitter? Yes. Did I check out Twitter Chats? Nope. So that is why I am keeping it on the list yet again. I mean, it’s not a terrible goal to continue to have, right? Especially if you are like me and don’t really use Twitter too much.

2. Learn Mail Chimp – I can honestly say that I actually have read a lot about Mail Chimp. The reason I haven’t crossed this one off my list yet, is because I still need to activate my newsletter feature/build it.. (oops). I am a slight perfectionist and this won’t be off my goals list until I can make sure that it is exactly how I want it to be!!

My Planner Series   So I wanted to get a head start on my planner series this week, and I did actually. I prepped my planner and began writing it out in draft posts!! I may have to push the series back a week, but you never know! I want my planner to be perfect (perfectionist, right?) before I show you all what it looks like!! However, this was a goal that I definitely accomplished!!

This week, I have one goal to add to my list of outstanding goals:

Get my September posts partially written: September is going to be a super busy month, and I don’t think I am going to have time to post every day if I have to write a new post every night. Between two jobs, dance, and the actual school work…things will get a tad hectic. Thank goodness for the scheduling tool, right? I hope this week I can get at least two weeks worth of posts/guest posts compiled so I can just schedule them up to fire off each day!September

I am only adding one goal for this week since I this week is already going to be nuts!! I want to make sure that all of my September posts get lined up and ready to go…and I need to be able to focus!!
