The Preppy Side of Pinterest: Christmas Looks

THE PREPPY SIDE OF PINTEREST-

I have been a bit absent these past couple of days. As we head into finals season, I have been absolutely swamped with assignments, studying and trying to maintain my sanity. So, I took a couple of days off. BUT, I am returning today with some great Christmas looks for you…straight from Pinterest (just the inspiration you need this holiday season). A few weeks ago, I showed you my top three must-have looks for this holiday season.

Today, I want to show you some of the preppy looks that I am loving this month…

Classic Red Tartan – I have a thing for plaid and this look screams classic Christmas. Red tartan is the best tartan, and here, paired with a black sweater, a string of pearls, matching red tartan heels and a dark crimson lip is perfect. This season, midi skirts are completely in. Many people think that midi skirts are for tall people, and tall people only. Not true at all – try the length with a pair of heels to boost your height, and you are golden!

Dressy dressy at the Mall – There is nothing wrong with sporting a skirt and tights around town for the holidays. Just because the snow has come to stay (which we don’t have by the way…), doesn’t mean you can’t show off those legs in the Winter and get your cute on! This outfit below emphasizes the importance of layers. The turtleneck under the plaid flannel, which is under the wool pea coat. Not to mention, the hunter green Hunter boots…simply perfection.

Hunter boots *-*-read coat, green skirt, and that plaid blouse! i LOVE this outfit...I really would like to look like this girl.:

The Laid back Lumberjack – Okay, so maybe this isn’t what a lumberjack would sport in the forest, but this look is incredibly cute. From the plaid flannel vest to the staple Bean Boots that she is sporting…I love it all. This look is super easy to recreate and perfect for getting the house ready for the family, hunting to buy the Christmas tree, or even running errands at the mall.

Fur on Plaid – This is an adorable look as well. The tartan, as you know, is already a favourite of mine. However, the fur is a new one for me. I just recently added a faux fur vest to my closet, and I have yet to sport it…but this is one of my inspirational outfits on Pinterest, which is why I am including it today. It is an easy and simple look to recreate with black pants or leggings…throw on some cute heels, or maybe some over the knee boots – voila!

That’s it for today. There is more to come this week hopefully. I love Christmas, and I love writing about Christmas style. Especially when I get to go through my inspirational boards…look forward to more outfit details coming soon (I know Mondays are usually details days…)

#WishlistWednesday: Christmas Wishlist Part 2

TITLE

One of my favourite parts of running a style blog, is getting to go through email subscriptions, catalogs, websites – you name it -, prowling for great clothes that I love! Sharing my style with you is what I love, and today I get to do that again for #WishlistWednesday for part two of my Christmas wishlist. A couple of weeks ago, I created part one of this wishlist

Today’s wishlist is going to focus mainly on accessories and things that I love (as opposed to clothing…):

Gold-Tone Bow Stud EarringsKate Spade New York, $67.04

I have really been getting into earrings this past year. I have really sensitive ears, so no all earrings work well with me…but lately, I have found as long as I stay away from cheaper brands, I am home-free! These bow earrings by Kate Spade New York are adorable, and personally…I love the all-gold motif (#teamgold)

1

Long-Knit Inset Leather GlovesBCBG Max., $135.00

Like most, as I grow into adulthood, my style has completely changed. I like the more sophisticated look and with sophistication, comes expensive things (of course, any lady would love an expensive item or two). One of those expensive accessories that I am in love with right now are long, black, leather gloves. Personally, I am not brand-picky when it comes to hats and gloves, but these are to-die-for. (However, I did see this exact type at Winners…hint hint Mom)

3

Warm Up to It Muff Bagmark. by Avon, $38.00

I profiled this in my very first gift-guide (check it out here), so of course it has to be on my Christmas wishlist this year. It is SO adorable – I love faux fur, and this muff bag is the perfect bag to keep me looking fab this Winter season. mark.Avon makes the best clutches and handbags (in my opinion). I have so many, thanks to my mother being an Avon rep. Believe me when I say that mark.Avon is completely worth it.

4

Two of a Kind Jeweled Bottle StopperKate Spade, $35.07

Much to my mother’s dismay (hehe), I do enjoy the casual glass of wine, and although it may be tempting to many to drink the entire bottle in one sitting…I usually have a a glass or two. With this wine stopper, you can stop your bottles in style. Kate Spade does it again…does she have everything?! Pretty much…

6

Mark Jacobs Daisy PerfumeVarious drug stores, ~$50.00

Okay, I know I am a little behind on this one. Everyone I know has a bottle of this perfume, which makes it easy to steal swatches here and there before heading out for the night (reality of living with all girls). However, it’s time that I get myself a bottle of this sweet-smelling, amazing, jaw dropping, butterfly smelling perfume. That was a lot of adjectives…I know. It’s how much I would love to sport this scent…just sayin’.

7

Put a Bow on it Drop EarringsKate Spade New York @ Lord and Taylor, $71.54

I know I already put a pair of bow earrings on the list…but these are literally too hard to resist. The pearls with the bows? The drop style? Come on… can I just be rich now? These cutesy little earrings are adorable and they may have to become my favourite ones in the jewelry box!

2

Initial Charm Pendent NecklaceKohl’s, $43.75

When I came on the blog scene (first through Instagram), this ampersand necklace was all the rage. I saw it on every pretty lady I follow on Instagram. I would have loved to purchase one for myself, however I could not find a retailer that really fit my needs (I tried Etsy, along with other smaller retailers). Finally, it has become a bit more mainstream, which is why this year, I want to be sporting one around my neck!!

9

Classic Winchester WatchDaniel Wellington @ Amazon, $125.07

Okay, technically, this is what I am planning on getting for myself when I graduate in the Spring…however, it could very well be my Christmas gift as well! I really admire Daniel Wellington watches. I find a lot of watches to be extremely flashy, and even though I love the bling, I don’t like flashing too much around. This understated design is simple, chic and completely classic. Plus, it had me at the pink and navy stripe…

8

Cedar Street JensenKate Spade New York, $378.00

This is definitely not something I need. However, I feel like if someone were to ask me what my “big ticket item” was this Christmas…this would be my go-to answer. This bag is everything that is right with Kate Spade. So what does that mean? Well, I will tell you. It’s classic. It will never go out of style. It’s structured. It is big. It is marvelous. It is wonderful. Sold yet? Doesn’t matter…this bag sold me about a year and a half ago when I first laid eyes on it.

10

Occasions and Contacts JournalKate Spade New York, $35.07

Can anyone tell what my favourite brand is so far thanks to this post? I can’t help but love Kate Spade. She just makes the best accessories, clothes, shoes, bags….everything really. This little book is perfect. I am big on paper everything. I use a planner (it’s like my bible), I write out my notes to study…and although I love technology….there is just something about writing something out that I love. Truly, it helps me remember important things…like dates, occasions and contacts…

5

Well there is part 2 of my wishlist (your welcome Mom!). Personally, I don’t love whining about what I want (I feel like I sound bratty), however this #WishlistWednesday series is a place for me to express my style, show you guys what I love, and possibly showcase some GREAT deals that are going on right now. If any of these items interested you or caught your eye…click on the titles because I have linked for you right where to get them yourself.

What are you hoping for this Christmas? What is your big-ticket item? Let me know in the comments below…

Happy Holidays and a happy Tuesday everybody…

Lace + Leather

Happy Monday everyone! There aren’t too many Mondays that I am smiling ear to ear, but today I get to release this post, which makes me very happy!! Last month, I released my first collaboration with Diana from DPhotography and today I am releasing my second collaboration! We had so much fun taking these photos, bounding around town, on fire escapes and in back ally ways…enjoy!

Lace and Leather - Pearls and Polkadots

Lace and Leather - Pearls and PolkadotsLace and Leather - Pearls and PolkadotsLately I have had an obsession for leather. Leather is such an interesting material and when paired together, it really makes a bold statement. This season, there was a lot of leather seen on the runway, in the magazines, and pretty much everywhere…which is what inspired me to put this fab look together!!

Every girl should own one leather or faux leather jacket. Leather is such a great material to accessorize with and when worn in a jacket, it can look really sharp. Moto jackets are my absolute favourite, mainly because of all of the detail in the zippers and pockets. This particular jacket is from Dynamite Clothing. I have had it for a while and it is one of my very favourite go-to pieces in my closet.

Crop tops are always a great thing to have – you can get them everywhere it seems and this one is one of my favourites. It is black, lace and perfect. I personally like to layer over a crop top, and use the crop as more of a backdrop to a look. With this particular outfit, the lace acted as a background to the leather, which is why I haven’t made it stand out too drastically!

This leather skirt was such an impulse buy…and one of many that I do not regret in the least! This skirt is so cute and the perfect trendy piece to jazz up your wardrobe. Pencil skirts are coming back, along with the midi-skirt trend, and I am stoked about it!! I love a good mini, but pencil and midi skirts really accentuate your curves! Which is never a bad thing!!

These shoes are great. I ordered them from the Avon catalogue last year from their “Comfort Plus” line…and they are. They are extremely comfortable! The peep toe is such a cute detail as well. What I love most about these shoes is how I can wear them in most seasons. I will wear them in the winter, but not if I know that I will be trekking through snow, that is. For obvious reasons!

With such a bold look, I wanted jewelry that was really simple. So I opted for a simple double-v patterned statement necklace that I got from the mark.Avon catalogue last year. The “v” pattern fits perfectly with the neck line, and the gold detail is perfect for the overall black look.

This look was one of my favourites to style and shoot. I usually don’t go for a look this edgy, but when I saw this skirt, I could not resist!! Make sure you check out DPhotography for a look at more of Diana’s beautiful shots. Whenever I pick something out to wear, I make sure it reflects who I am, what I love and what I stand for. I mean, you have to dress the way you want, right? Thanks again to Diana, DPhotography!

Happy Monday!

Give love to the Silver Jewelry

As you all know, gold accessories are my forte! Gold is my main colour when picking statement pieces. Now, the piece itself doesn’t have to be gold…it could be rainbow all over, for all I care. However, the hardware is what makes or breaks the piece! What is hardware you ask? Well, my friends…hardware is the chain, clasp, and any other technical part of your necklace, bracelet or other accessory.

Jacey / Damsel in Dior

A few weeks ago, I did a post on how much I looove gold jewelry because most of my jewelry is gold. But just because gold is the colour I prefer, doesn’t mean I don’t favor silver jewelry as well.

I love silver jewelry just as much!

This piece is right up my alley! I love how it has silver detail, and most importantly, I looove the single piece in the centre. If you are looking for a piece to compliment your ball gown look…I would go with this piece for sure. It is simple, classic and totally in style (I have a similar necklace style, except…in gold).

Silver Jewelry

Bangles aren’t really my thing, if we are being honest here. I am not a huge bracelet fan, but I do like wearing them once and a while – especially certain occasions. This particular bangle is chunky and awesome and will break up most outfits!! You can’t really wear silver jewelry with much, but if you are going for a black and white motif, this is exactly the kind of jewelry you want!! This is a perfect example of making your jewelry the true statement of your look.

Silver Jewelry

This ring is a multi-ring. What that means is that there is multiple rings on one finger, yet they are connected with one another. This ring is interesting, in particular…why? Because of the detail, the ring is intriguing – I love the detail it has on the different bands of the ring. My favourite part about this accessory is the arrows – just a cute detail that I love. There are crystals, a design to die for, and overall, will look great on your finger!!

Silver Jewelry

Silver is the future – I see it everywhere and although I am #teamgold, it doesn’t hurt to try a different metal once and a while. As for mixing gold and silver jewelry, I will have to do another post on this one…I still don’t know how to handle this trend. I love gold jewelry, but all of this week, I have been wearing a silver hardware “Breast Cancer” awareness necklace – perfect for the month of October!

What do you think about silver jewelry? Are you #teamgold or #teamsilver…or are you both?
