My Fall Bucket List

There are many things about me that put me into that “basic” category. Whether that is a good thing, or a bad thing, I embrace all of these wonderful cliches. One of these happen to be this little fact: I. LOVE. FALL. Yup, that’s right! It is the season of blanket scarves, pumpkin spiced lattes, and changing leaves. That moment you walk out the door in late September and get a whiff of the crisp fall air…that is one of my favourite things. It gets me feeling all warm and cozy.

Lately, it has been nothing but heat, and honestly? I despise the hot weather. There is a point in September where you just want to put all of the maxis, shorts and summer dresses away. That fall clothing closet switch is extremely exciting for me (better than Christmas maybe?).

To change things up on the blog this morning, I am sharing my bucket list for this festive season! I also have a feeling that Fall may be a tad longer this year, which gives me plenty of time to check all of these boxes off!

Keeping Cozy in Paisley Trim

It’s kind of bizarre that only three weeks ago, I sat here in front of my computer, shivering while wrapped in a blanket with a hot cup of tea sitting beside me. It was incredibly cold, and I was complaining and wishing for summer to return. Well…be careful what you wish for. It is probably the hottest it has been all summer – so hot that it was a must that I jump in the river to cool off yesterday (fact!). Nevertheless, I am here today bringing you a cute fall look. Hopefully I will get to wear it without sweating, in the next week or so!

Shirt: c/o Pink Blush / Leggings: Dynamite / Boots: Blundstone

Although I was hoping the hot weather would come back, I am kind of disappointed that fall hasn’t arrived yet! Fall is my favourite season, mainly because of all of my fall outfits. I need sweaters, cozy clothing, denim on denim and, well, more sweaters. All accompanied by a good ole’ Pumpkin Spiced Latte (I’m basic, I know!).

Cozy pieces are a staple for the fall season. However, I like my cozy pieces to look good as well and reflect my personal style. One of my favourite things to sport is fun and boisterous patterns. Patterns can be loud and overwhelming sometimes. So if you don’t want to go full out pattern head to toe, adding it through a certain detail of an item, makes for a good look.

I ordered this top from Pink Blush. Pink Blush has always given me the most comfortable and on trend pieces out there. I picked this knit blend top primarily because of the tone of grey, but also for the cute navy paisley detailed trim around the hem. This breaks my look up, and by pairing it with textured leather leggings, it makes for a cute, edgy and comfortable ensemble!

I almost always go a size up with Pink Blush. You may think I do this because sizing runs small, however sizing is very true to fit. I like these tops to be a tad over-sized and cozy as opposed to tight and tailored (that’s just me!).  You could easily pair this top with jeans and a third piece (such as a pea coat or overcoat for the cooler fall season).

Keep cozy this fall with Pink Blush!

BLUSH INTERIOR

Happy Wednesday everybody! Can you believe it is already the middle of the week…it seems crazy that we are nearing the end of September. Personally, I am really excited because fall is my favourite season and I am super ready for summer to come to a close. Since September is kind of my own January, being that it is the beginning of the new school year, I have been looking into personal goals to set for myself.

One of these goals is to branch out with my blogging, and tackle another niche that I love, and jump outside of my comfort zone. To do that, I am going to tap into my Pinterest and show you what I have been pinning lately.

Here is the catch, however…I’m stepping away from fashion and diving into design and decor (shocking, I know). It isn’t my typical niche, but I can spend hours online looking at pretty living rooms, dreamy bedrooms and inspiring kitchens. Real estate websites such as SPACE STATION are also a guilty pleasure of mine! I am just so fascinated by the different ways people decorate and furnish their properties. My favorite properties are typically loft apartments. Recently I have even started thinking about what kinds of changes might be needed in a house to bring more soft light in. This might be because a friend down in Texas recently found out about Graceland Windows and Doors and all the different window options they can have, but softer palettes suit soft natural light. This could work in any room in the house, but in an effort to keep this short and sweet, I am focusing on living rooms today.

Mood: Living Room Inspiration

If you were to walk into my current living room right now, you definitely would find nothing in there that reflects this interior style, except my beautiful wide chest of drawers! Partially because I am a student, and partially because I currently live with six other students. A girl can dream though, right?
I am all about light, pretty, feminine things. Accent decor, cute quotes, floral prints, following trends like how recently they’re developing texture in contemporary rugs… that is what I am all about (or what I dream to be…). Blush tones, rose gold, leaf patterns – all I would include in a perfect dream of a living room. Future living room: designed!
Here are some of my inspirations when it comes to feminine living rooms:

Suede and Lace

This past week was probably the coldest I have felt in a looong time. It’s almost like the calendar turned September 1 and summer took off forever. However, I woke up this morning to a warm, sunny day and I am delighted. I am confident that we don’t have to kiss summer good bye for good just yet!

Romper: c/o Du North Designs / Booties: Ralph Lauren / Jacket: Pink Blush

One of my favourite pieces to sport in the summer is the romper. Rompers are so easily to style, because similar to dresses, you don’t need much to make them look perfect! I am often rocking them with a third piece in the form of a jacket, cardigan, or open shirt for fun. However, the third piece is not an absolute must!

For this look, I went for a cool, dressed up vibe. This romper from Du North Designs is a casual, but dressy piece that is great for the transition between summer and fall. This is why I have paired it with warm brown tones in the suede jacket and leather booties. Although I pretty much live my life in flip flops, I like to sport the casual heel once and a while. Hence, the cognac coloured booties.

Fall is a great time to play with cool colours. In the summertime, it is all about the brights and the bolds. However, when we move into the fall season, that is when we start to see the cooler and darker tones come out (navy, maroon, brown tones, etc.). I love to play with fall tones, and navy/cognac is one of my favourite pairings.

When this romper came in the mail, I jumped for joy. Not only because I loved it, but I knew that I could take it through the early fall season and style it for much longer than other summer rompers. I also love it because of the lace detail – so precious and delicate (I’m a lace lover!).

So basically what I am saying is even though summer is coming to a close for the year, don’t fret! Hold off on moving your rompers to the back of your closet and take another glance. Transition them to your fall wardrobe and keep on styling!

Don’t say good bye to your rompers just yet!!

Blushing into the School Year

As we near the end of yet another season, I am starting to prepare for new and exciting things. For one, I am entering the second and final year of my education program. For two, I have decided to set some simple and attainable goals for this year.

Shirt: c/o Pink Blush / Jeans: Old Navy / Shoes: G.H. Bass & Co. / Handbag: Aldo

Whenever a season ends, I like to refresh and challenge myself to set goals. Why? I feel seasonal goals are more attainable because they are shorter periods of time. As I walk into the new school year, I am trying to live a healthier life, dress to impress, and really look at how I manage my time.

In most cases, starting off a new season feeling good, begins with the way you look and feel. Today was the first day of my graduating year…so naturally, I looked for a simple look that would make me feel amazing. Not too dressy, not too casual. In searching for that perfect look to kick of the season, I landed at none other than Pink Blush.

Pink Blush is a classic, flirty, pretty women’s online boutique where the clothes are cute and the prices are totally affordable. I have been shopping here for a while, mainly because the clothing keeps getting cuter and cuter!! I can’t get enough of pastels, brights, florals, polka dots – the whole deal!! It definitely is worth a little look!

To achieve a positive mood and a good look, I chose this adorable blush and lavender floral print with some added colour blocking around the neckline. I am really into pastels and patterns, so when this popped up on my screen, I probably added it to my cart in a matter of seconds. I decided that it was best to order one size up from my usual sizing so that I could achieve the fit that I wanted (a trick I frequently use when shopping online). As it turned out, it is the perfect length and fit, and nothing bunches where you don’t want it to!!

Since this is such a casual piece, I decided to aim to dress it up sightly – but not too much to overdo. I am wearing it with skinny jeans, and a cute pair of loafers. Additionally, I topped the simplistic look up with simple jewelry as well including my favourite pearl necklace, a charm bracelet, and some cute rings. I also added a blush handbag to tote all of my necessities around with me, but I would even pair this look with a darker coloured handbag to bring out the lavender in the shirt.

Adding cute new pieces to your closet is a good enough reason. Check out Pink Blush!
