Whimsical Wrap Dress

Summer is in full swing, and what better way to celebrate the sunny season than with a whimsical getaway?! A couple of weeks ago, I hopped on a plane and spontaneously flew to Punta Cana! Punta Cana is such a magical place, and every moment I was there, I felt like a true princess.

Vacations are a time to kick back and relax, but also the time to experiment with your style! Tropical prints, light fabric, and bold colours are all apart of the vibes you can play with! Before this getaway, I had never ventured to the islands, or anywhere remotely tropical…so needless to say, it was my opportunity to have FUN!

PinkBlush is one of my go-to boutiques for fun prints and feminine style. I literally always find something that makes me feel amazing. This beautiful wrap tie dress caught my eye instantly when I was curating my vacation looks. I just love the vibes it gives off. This isn’t a dress I would normally gravitate to because the print is outside my comfort zone. However, I took a chance and I am SO glad that I did.

I love the ruffle detail in the neckline, and how it ties around the waist. It’s such a unique and fun style, and perfect for your tropical getaway! The pops of colour in the print really resonated with me, and I feel like it’s just such a simple dress to style. Here, I styled it with my go-to flip flops, but throwing on a pair of neutral wedges takes the look to a whole new level!

As always, PinkBlush didn’t let me down, and I continue to drool over their perfectly feminine styles.

Matching with the Cherry Blossoms

Summer is finally here! It felt like the drippy weather was never going to end! I am so happy to be getting outside, feeling that warm summer breeze and just embracing the season. It certainly is one of my favourite times of the year.

Jacket: H&M / Shirt: Garage / Scarf: Thrifted / Pants: Urban Planet / Shoes: c/o Skechers

It is time to put your winter boots away and pull out the outdoor kicks! I love shoes, but I have never been one to wear sneakers as my every day. I love my flip flops and pretty much live in them throughout the summer. However, I recently have been getting a lot more active and sneakers are becoming my number one choice.

It’s no secret that I am a big fan of Skechers (here and here). I recently received this amazing pair of “Flex Appeal” Skechers running shoes. They are pretty much what I live in now. They have air cooled memory foam technology in the soles which make them light, airy and completely comfortable. Also, they are PINK (that’s my kind of shoe). I love how great they make my feet feel, and how stylish they are all at the same time.

I recently trekked down to High Park to do some city sight seeing. Early May is the peak time to view the cherry blossoms bloom, and there was no way I was going to miss out on something so beautiful! I don’t live right in Toronto, so it was definitely a hike to get there, but I made it and I definitely didn’t mind matching with the blossoms.

For this look, I didn’t want to look super sporty. I also wanted pink to be the POP of my look, so I paired the shoes with some more casual and muted pieces (i.e. denim jacket, black jeans, etc.). The eye-catching pink scarf pulls the look together because of the POP of pink in the shoes (side note: it was way too hot for a scarf…oh well). I really love how this look was so simple to style and throw together!

Skechers is my go-to for in style, casual and cute shoes. As a bonus (and I really mean bonus, because women do not emphasize this certain factor in most shoe scenarios), they are SO COMFORTABLE. I cannot say that enough!

Keep it cute and casual with Skechers this season!

9 Spring Shoes for your Inner Fashionista

By the time spring comes along, I am desperate to pull anything other than winter boots on. I dust off my heels, pull out the cute sneaks and completely rethink footwear. I don’t consider myself shoe crazy, but I do love a good pair of shoes. Especially when shoes are floral, pastel or trendy.

I was cleaning out my closet the other day, and really thought to myself…it’s time to update my shoe collection. So I did what any fashion blogger would do, I went onto Nordstrom and made a wish list. The shoes are unbelievably cute this season, and honestly, I wish I could get all of these. I wanted to share the list with you and tell you a little bit about why they made it onto this running list of things I must have.

Rose pink or pink pastel is probably my favourite colour right now. I love how springy this colour is and the best part, is that it transitions perfectly for summer as well. It’s never a bad thing when a colour works for multiple seasons!

What screams spring more than floral patterns? Spring flowers are all the rage at this time of year, and since we aren’t able to spot the flowers IRL, we might as well sport the blooms on our clothes, right? I definitely think so! At the same time, having that pattern pop in an overall ensemble upgrades your look from dreary to dreamy!!

Yellow has never been my favourite colour. However, recently, I have been really trying to incorporate it into my wardrobe one way or another. These mustard or canary yellow give your outfit the pop of colour it needs! Plus, it’s such a bright colour for the seasons to come!

I have yet to try the see through fad that seems to be spreading like wildfire. I am seeing it everywhere – especially in Hollywood. Now, it is definitely an out there trend, but whenever you change over your wardrobe for a new season, it doubles as the time to be adventurous! I am itching to try it out myself!

Denim has always been my thing. I fully embrace denim-on-denim (happily, I might add). I have yet to embrace denim footwear. Similar to the see through trend, it may seem a little out there. The shoes I linked above give me 90s vibes, and honestly, anything 90s is eh-okay with me!

Well, there are are the springy trends that are surfacing this May! Hopefully you opened your eyes to some trendier options, or maybe it gave you the inspiration to click through and add one of these beauties to your closet to style! Getting in touch with your inner fashionista is always easy when there are so many pretty options!

Happy Shopping!

Simple Tacos

I am probably the blandest person you will ever meet when it comes to food. I can’t handle anything spicy (seriously, black pepper sets my mouth on fire) and I definitely am not adventurous. However, as I move through my twenties, I have learned to give things a try and keep my mind open when it comes to food.

I have expanded my horizons to so many different tastes these past few years, and I am really getting into food. I have never been one to truly enjoy eating. However, there are a few meals that I crave almost weekly and have truly perfected the way I prepare it for myself, friends and family.

Simple Tacos - Pearls and Polkadots

I am not a food blogger, but in honor of ‘Cinco de Mayo!’, I thought I would share my simple and quick way that I prepare tacos – nothing unique or original, just my plain ol’ way of doing things. Also, who doesn’t love tacos…right?

Simple Tacos - Pearls and Polkadots

I grew up in a pretty normal household. However, when it came to spices, my family really didn’t season anything. We always would brown meat, cut up some tomatoes and lettuce, grate cheese and throw it all in a wrap. No spices. No seasoning. Nothing. You can imagine my surprise when I went off to university, had a taco night with my roommates and discovered that taco seasoning was a thing and kind of, you know, necessary for tacos.

This is one of my favourite meals to make. I make it at least twice a month – if not more. Now, it is not the most flavorful recipe…but it is just to my liking (spiciness-wise) and it certainly hits the spot.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Ultra Violet Picks of 2018

Happy May everyone! It feels like I blinked and spring arrived. Just kidding, it has actually been the longest winter ever. The warm weather has finally arrived! Which means, the little shopper in me has come our of hibernation! I am constantly looking for new trends, fun deals and great new pieces to add to my closet.

If you haven’t heard the news, Pantone named ‘Ultra Violet’ as their colour of the year! Purple is taking it’s stance, and boy are we ever seeing it in fashion lately. I am always a fan of purple. Not everyone is a fan of this vibrant colour! Well, take a look at these pieces I found – it will be hard to resist purple after you see these ultra cute pieces…

These tops I have chosen are a mix between casual and professional. I carefully selected different shades of violet from pastel to concentrated. These are definitely my ‘top’ picks for the season when it comes to Pantone’s ‘Colour of the Year’. From Banana Republic to Garage, there is something in this lookbook for everyone…

It’s time to put away the sweaters and stock your closet full of those cute springy dresses. I selected these few pieces to really carry that violet vibe all through the season! Each of these dresses add fun, sophistication and trendy fashion into your closet.

Jackets aren’t necessarily the first thing we think of when the weather starts to warm up. However, when the sun goes down, it can get chilly. What says “spring night out” better than this fun lilac moto jacket? It is as pastel as they come, but definitely a trendy piece worth adding to your closet this season!

Shoes and Accessories

If you are new to trying colours like this one, and you don’t want to go bold right out of the gate…these are the items for you. Adding pops of colour to your outfit is always a good idea, but especially when you are trying a new colour you aren’t used to. These pops of violet is perfect for the colour newcomer!

Caught the spring shopping bug yet? Don’t worry, I caught it a long time ago. At least the side effects are cute clothes and great style, right? Stay tuned for more fun shop-able posts!

Happy styling!
