Recently, I have had the opportunity to connect with a talented and fit blogger that is leading a simple and helpful fitness program that any #girlboss can jump on. When it comes to fitness, I crawl under a rock. I am just going to put it out there…I hate working out.
My Fitness History
Working out has always been a chore to me. It’s something that I dread doing and often put off. I’m sure many can see where I am coming from and so I have pretty much classified myself as a non-gym person. When you shy away from the gym, then motivation fades away because what are you really going to choose when you get home from a long day at work? Working out…or watching the Bachelorette while eating peanut butter and toast?
So why am I telling you all of this?
Fit and Fabulous
Fit and Fabulous by Courtney Bentley is a hot new program that puts working out in perspective. You don’t have to change your lifestyle. You don’t need to sign up for an expensive membership at a gym you’ll never go to. You don’t even need to workout for that long. 30 minutes. That is literally all it takes.
Even better, there is an app that comes with the program that makes your life so much easier. Trainerize is an app that Courtney uses to keep up to date with you – encouragement, motivation and tips. All things that Courtney communicates using Trainerize. Having trouble with one of the exercises? She is right there to help you out virtually.
Did I mention I hate working out? Okay, yeah you got that. Well, I actually didn’t hate doing these workouts. They were quick, simple and I didn’t have to go to the gym. Another major plus was it was just once a day! I didn’t have to find two hours every day to workout, and even more so, you could go at your own pace. I’ve been told that I should try and eat a healthy protein snack after my workout to let my body recover and to help with my muscle mass. My friend has told me about these protein cookies that she uses so I may buy them for my next workout to see if I will feel the same benefits.
The Meal Plan
On the opposite side of the spectrum, I LOVE food. No shame in screaming that to the world. That is probably one of the biggest struggles I face when it comes to trying to lose weight or even staying in proper shape – the good eats. Well, surprise surprise, food can be healthy AND tasty.
With Fit and Fabulous, you not only get a weekly workout plan, but you get a meal plan as well. What’s on the menu? So many choices! Healthy salads, overnight oats and great fish dishes that will actually feel like you are eating a lot – but it is so good for you!! My fave? The turkey meatballs + spaghetti…amazing.
Trainers are so useful to have, but some can be overbearing, intimidating and well, not helpful at all. Trainers I have had in the past have made me feel worse about myself than better. Courtney could not be more opposite. She is helpful, caring and focused in making you feel better about yourself. Even better? There is no pressure.
So you had a wedding today and you binged on pasta? No worries! So you don’t like fish? No problem – Courtney will find an alternative meal to work into your plan. She is amazing and was amazing throughout my entire process. There is even a Facebook group that connects you with other amazing Fit and Fabulous ladies!
I tried the plan for a month. I was not totally consistent with the plan due to some personal matters that hindered my ability to participate for a portion of the time (if I am being quite truly honest). However, I changed the way I thought about fitness and have now worked her routines into my workouts regularly (yes, I actually work out now). More so, I have altered my eating habits to focus on healthier alternatives – leafy greens, turkey over beef and whole grains – all things that I learned with Fit and Fabulous.
Rome wasn’t built in a day. And your physique will not change in a month – but I believe that with a solid workout plan and an excellent leader like Courtney, change will happen.
