Fall Picks with Shein

Fall has arrived everyone! You know what that means? Fall fashion. Being that it is my all-time favourite season, I get a little fall-dazed and crazed with my hunt for the perfect threads. With fall fashion comes super short-lived trends and although you could invest a ton in great clothing…don’t waste it on something that’s going to go right out of style.

Shein is one of my frequently visited online boutiques for trendy fashion. So today I have decided to raid their new arrivals and showcase some of my fave items.

All of these styles can be found at Shein

This season is full of earth tones, textures and statement pieces. I absolutely love military green, suede ball caps and textured leather and knits. All of these amazing trends can be found in the Shein boutique. Below, I assembled some favourite combos of mine that are all made up from Shein’s collection!

Comfy and Casual

One of my favourite trends right now is the baseball cap. I deem it to be essential this fall season. The main benefit of sporting a cap is you don’t have to try so hard on your hair – perfect for your second day, ladies! Oversized knits are a big thing in my wardrobe right now too – the longer the cardi, the better!!

Living on the Edge

Is it the 1990s? Nope! The choker has just been recycled and I couldn’t be happier! The black, velvet choker has become a necessity in every lady’s wardrobe. I also am really loving black skinny jeans with rips in the knees. Versatile and hot, they are a must-buy this season.

Printed Perfection

I am pretty much obsessed with camouflage these days. This camo jacket is the perfect statement piece to really step out in style. Paired with some ripped skinnies and some white kicks, you are strutting in style. To top it off, the layered choker is another trendy piece that we are seeing a lot of these days…obsessed.

Sweater Weather with a Little Leather

Two of my favourite textures: suede and leather. I currently do not own a pair of leather pants, but I want them pretty badly. I love the texture and the edgy look that goes along with it. Plus, I love pairing suede and leather together – throw in a long knit and you are right in trend.

Pops of Pink

Just because it’s the fall season, does not mean you have to bog down your wardrobe with olive greens, blacks and gray tones. Pops of colour are still very important, which is why I have included this pink backpack. It provides that little pop of colour your fall wardrobe needs!

The Colder Shoulder

I haven’t been a fan of the cold shoulder top,  but I figured out that the tighter the arms, the better the look. Which is why I picked this cute grey cold shoulder top. I paired it with the leather pants to add texture, and topped it off with some black ankle boots to add some length in the leg.

Classic Threads

Being the preppy gal that I am, I love a good collared piece. I paired this classic styled top with some ripped skinny jeans. Again, to lengthen the leg, I paired the look with black ankle boots (if you haven’t noticed, I love booties). You can also add a simple shoulder tote or a cross body for practicality!

When looking for trendy fashion at an affordable price, you can’t go wrong with Shein. However, I like to mention that if you are going to order, go one size up if you are North American. Overseas brands can generate smaller sizes, so definitely keep that in mind!

Wardrobe Prep for the Fall Season

Fall has arrived which means cozy cardis, denim everything and boots galore! I have now been in my new place for a month and officially begun my second degree in teaching education. This is my favourite time of year. Why? I get to pull out my sweater collection as I am sipping on the classic PSL and look at new styles to sport for the season!

Up north, we transition into fall pretty quickly. It’s out of sandals and into the OTK boots in an instant, and I am quite alright with that. However, it can be a daunting task to switch over your wardrobe.

Which is why today, I want to help you prep your wardrobe for the fall season.

Fall Colours

There really is no designated, absolute colour palette for the fall season. I tend to gravitate to cooler, more earthy tones. It could be the changing of the leaves that strengthen my love for rust orange and wine-y purple, but if you’re a regular on the pin boards, you’ll know that certain colours belong to certain seasons.

Amber / Barefoot Blonde

A Week of Outfits:

Sticking to the Basics

Each season has their essentials. Fall happens to contain some favourite classics of mine that will take you through the season effortlessly. The white shirt, the leather jacket, and the ballet flat are among some of the top picks of mine for fall.

A look that will never go out of style is the layered look. Whether it’s a snazzy trench over a cashmere sweater or a pressed blouse under a classic cardigan, layering will always look sharp. As an added bonus, more layers equal keeping cozy in the cool air!

Transition Pieces

There is nothing I love more than a piece that can be transitioned from season to season. When switching your wardrobe over to fall, think about if you can utilize a piece you’ve been wearing all summer into your fall closet. Often, cute summery day dresses can be accessorized for fall so you have a brand new, unique look!

I am using this week to switch my wardrobe over, get prepped for the cooler season and revamp my winter looks. It’s probably one of my most favourite and most stressful hobbies to do!

Beach Day Musts

As we are approaching the summer season, there is only one thing on my mind – the beach. Normally, I wouldn’t be day dreaming of sun tanning on hot sand and soaking up rays, but since I am not in the sunshine state…how could I not be thinking of only that?

In order to be totally prepared for a sun-filled and fun-filled day at the beach, there are a few essentials that I need, as well as some that I think you need as well (to maximize the fun, of course).

Cute Suit

Every gal knows that her best friend when it comes to the beach is her bathing suit. It is your “outfit of the day” and the one that you will need to stay cute and comfortable in. I usually opt for a one-piece or a tankini because of the fit, and my absolute favourite suits are black suits. Right now, I am super obsessed with crochet – anything crochet makes me swoon.

Big Sunnies

Forget your usual pair of sunglasses and get yourself a HUGE pair. Why? Well, they are totally in style, AND they give you great coverage. I have very sensitive eyes and so when I am lying out on the beach, I need lots of coverage so that my eyes don’t feel like they are burning right out of my head!!

Floppy Sun Hat

This is something I recently became a fan of. I had never owned a sun hat until…roughly a month ago. I have used it a couple of times and it makes a world of difference. If you don’t have sunglasses that completely cover, this is your go-to essential. Flop it over your face and fall asleep in the sun because you are completely set to go.

Okay, so this may not be essential. Actually it isn’t an essential at all – it is a total add on to make your beach outfit look cute. If I have a really detailed look with prints and patterns, I shy away from the jewels, but a solid black bathing suit with a statement necklace can, well, make a statement – and why not be the prettiest gal with the prettiest jewels on the beach, right?

Comfortable Sandals

Whenever I lay by the pool, I like to be in comfortable footwear. Although you won’t be wearing your shoes for long, you want to make sure that they are comfy for you to walk around the beach in. Chances are you are going to get up a few times that day from lying on your towel sunbathing to do some walking around (on the shore, to get an ice cream cone, etc.), so you want to make sure you are in what you feel the best in!

Swimsuit: La Vie En Rose / Sunnies: Joe Fresh / Necklace: ILY Mix / Sun Hat: Winners

Let’s not forget the obvious essentials like sunscreen, water, and food…but when it comes to fashion, these should be your go-to items for keeping trendy on the beach. I love dressing up and even when I am lying on a beach, I like to remain my fashionista self.

Adore Me has an amazing selection of beach ware that is cute, comfortable and adore-able! They cater to women of all sizes, complete with a plus size section that you will swoon over. So make sure you head over and check out their collection and find them on Instagram at @adoreme!

Cannes Film Festival 2016 Review

Roll out the red carpet! The Cannes Film Festival has kicked off in the French Riviera for another year and the celebs are going all out! Even though this event is entirely dedicated to the films, I am of course looking at all of the gorgeous ensembles that we are seeing from the stars! Beautiful gowns, slinky styles and sparkles galore…these looks were stunning!

I like to name my favourites and not so favourites…however, today, I just want to highlight the ensembles that, hands-down, were the most shocking looks of the festival.

Kendall Jenner

Baring it for all to see, Kendall totally worked this see-through Cavalli Couture dress at From the Land of the Moon premiere. This completely screams Kardashian, doesn’t it. Now, I know that Kendall is technically a Jenner, but as an honorary “Kardash”, I think this fits right in with the style they promote and if I’m being completely honest, I think this look is a great shocker pick for the red carpet.

Blake Lively

I am pretty sure that Blake Lively wins the red carpet every single time. Sporting this gorgeous, sweeping Atelier Versace, Blake had her head held high, her arm rested on her hip and she looked nothing less than fierce. Can I also say that my absolutely favourite accessory that she is wearing is her baby bump?

Hofit Golan

I am one huge sucker for polka dots (obviously!), but this dress is amazing. I think the cut is gorgeous. I think the mix between the polka dots and the floral design is beautiful and I think it highlights all of the right features on Hofit.

Anna Kendrick

I am usually not a fan of this bright yellow-mustard colour, but I love Anna Kendrick so much, that I just think she looks amazing in everything. This beautiful Stella McCartney evening gown is one of the best looks Anna has worn this year. The neckline is perfect for her shape, and I think the sweeping train is gorgeous.

Eva Longoria

I actually took a double-take at this picture because from a certain angle, I could have sworn this was Kimmy K gracing us with her presence on the red carpet. Nope! It’s Eva Longoria, looking drop-dead gorgeous in this beautiful white evening gown.

Araya A. Hargate

Probably one of the best looks of the festival, this gorgeous gown that Araya is wearing is elegant and stunning. I also have to highlight the choker jewelry. I really like the detail in the gown because it reminds me of pink roses. Literally took my breath away…where can I get my hands on this dress???

Cannes Film Festival 2016 Review - Pearls and Polkadots

Unique style certainly comes through on the red carpet. We have seen it all – ruffles, sparkles, elegance, sheer…it’s all there and, to be honest, I love every bit of it.

I also must point out that there weren’t any looks that repulsed me in any way (shocking, I know). However, if I were to pick the winner of festival…it would have to be Mrs. Ryan Reynolds (Blake Lively)…she and her baby bump have never looked better!!

Glitz and Glamour w/ ILYMIX

Don’t you just love it when you find the perfect accessories? I am extremely picky when it comes to jewelry, sunglasses, or any other accessory. I love to examine pieces, match them with looks before I even make the purchase, and most of all, I like them to fit in with my style exactly as how I picture it.

I know…sounds a little crazy, right? It really isn’t though. When you find that perfect statement necklace that you’ve been looking for, it’s the greatest feeling.

Rocking a good pair of sunnies and a stunning statement necklace is important in the hot season. Why, you ask? Because it is the season of strutting your stuff. Fall and winter are the times to cover up and sport the layers, but with summer, it is all about cute accessories.

ILYMIX fills all my accessory needs, and I think it’s safe to say that I am a huge supporter of their boutique!

You can shop ILYMIX yourself by heading over here.
