Suede and Lace

This past week was probably the coldest I have felt in a looong time. It’s almost like the calendar turned September 1 and summer took off forever. However, I woke up this morning to a warm, sunny day and I am delighted. I am confident that we don’t have to kiss summer good bye for good just yet!

Romper: c/o Du North Designs / Booties: Ralph Lauren / Jacket: Pink Blush

One of my favourite pieces to sport in the summer is the romper. Rompers are so easily to style, because similar to dresses, you don’t need much to make them look perfect! I am often rocking them with a third piece in the form of a jacket, cardigan, or open shirt for fun. However, the third piece is not an absolute must!

For this look, I went for a cool, dressed up vibe. This romper from Du North Designs is a casual, but dressy piece that is great for the transition between summer and fall. This is why I have paired it with warm brown tones in the suede jacket and leather booties. Although I pretty much live my life in flip flops, I like to sport the casual heel once and a while. Hence, the cognac coloured booties.

Fall is a great time to play with cool colours. In the summertime, it is all about the brights and the bolds. However, when we move into the fall season, that is when we start to see the cooler and darker tones come out (navy, maroon, brown tones, etc.). I love to play with fall tones, and navy/cognac is one of my favourite pairings.

When this romper came in the mail, I jumped for joy. Not only because I loved it, but I knew that I could take it through the early fall season and style it for much longer than other summer rompers. I also love it because of the lace detail – so precious and delicate (I’m a lace lover!).

So basically what I am saying is even though summer is coming to a close for the year, don’t fret! Hold off on moving your rompers to the back of your closet and take another glance. Transition them to your fall wardrobe and keep on styling!

Don’t say good bye to your rompers just yet!!

Blushing into the School Year

As we near the end of yet another season, I am starting to prepare for new and exciting things. For one, I am entering the second and final year of my education program. For two, I have decided to set some simple and attainable goals for this year.

Whenever a season ends, I like to refresh and challenge myself to set goals. Why? I feel seasonal goals are more attainable because they are shorter periods of time. As I walk into the new school year, I am trying to live a healthier life, dress to impress, and really look at how I manage my time.

In most cases, starting off a new season feeling good, begins with the way you look and feel. Today was the first day of my graduating year…so naturally, I looked for a simple look that would make me feel amazing. Not too dressy, not too casual. In searching for that perfect look to kick of the season, I landed at none other than Pink Blush.

Pink Blush is a classic, flirty, pretty women’s online boutique where the clothes are cute and the prices are totally affordable. I have been shopping here for a while, mainly because the clothing keeps getting cuter and cuter!! I can’t get enough of pastels, brights, florals, polka dots – the whole deal!! It definitely is worth a little look!

To achieve a positive mood and a good look, I chose this adorable blush and lavender floral print with some added colour blocking around the neckline. I am really into pastels and patterns, so when this popped up on my screen, I probably added it to my cart in a matter of seconds. I decided that it was best to order one size up from my usual sizing so that I could achieve the fit that I wanted (a trick I frequently use when shopping online). As it turned out, it is the perfect length and fit, and nothing bunches where you don’t want it to!!

Since this is such a casual piece, I decided to aim to dress it up sightly – but not too much to overdo. I am wearing it with skinny jeans, and a cute pair of loafers. Additionally, I topped the simplistic look up with simple jewelry as well including my favourite pearl necklace, a charm bracelet, and some cute rings. I also added a blush handbag to tote all of my necessities around with me, but I would even pair this look with a darker coloured handbag to bring out the lavender in the shirt.

Adding cute new pieces to your closet is a good enough reason. Check out Pink Blush!

Romping Around

It feels like summer is just zooming by! How is it almost the middle of July!? Although it isn’t my favourite season, summer is such a special season. It’s a time to break out the cute pieces, spend days by the water and feel the wind through your hair! Which is exactly what I did this past weekend in Tobermory, Ontario.

The simpler, the better. Fashion shouldn’t be work. That’s why I will pick a romper over any piece in my closet – especially when I’m feeling extra lazy. I’m just jumping on the romper bandwagon, and this has to be one of my faves.

Just like a dress, it is such an easy item to style. Even more so, it makes for a great summertime look because it takes no thought to make it look amazing! I love printed rompers especially because they’re extra cute and they add detail into your look (which is always nice).

I love supporting Canadian brands, and Du North Designs Ltd. is one of my favourites. They have just recently started adding a lot more items to their website, including printed rompers! Leggings are their specialty, but I have to say, their rompers are cute, in style, and a great price! I definitely recommend giving them a look, because I guarantee that you will find more than one thing you love!

On a separate note, this past weekend, I traveled to Tobermory, Ontario and it opened to my eyes to how beautiful good ole’ Ontario actually is! The further North you travel, the more beautiful it gets. I feel so fortunate to have seen the gorgeous beaches and cliffs of this small little fisher’s town. Definitely a must-see Canadian spot!!

Explore patterned fashion with Du North Designs Ltd. and join me on the romper bandwagon! (Also, this black elephant romper I am wearing now is **on sale** – even better!)

Camo Style

Lately I have really been jumping on the leggings train. I am finding they are the most comfortable option for when you are running errands or lounging around! However, now that we are heading into the brightest season of them all, I am diving into patterns. I like my patterns bright, dark, big, small – really anything that will give my outfits some life.

Although bright floral is the summer go-to…it’s nice to switch it up and take a chance on the darker patterns as well. I have been completely obsessed with camouflage this season!! Camo bodysuits, tights, jackets – you name it, I love it!

Du North Designs is a great online boutique that I love to go to to find unique patterned tights! The variety in what you can get is outstanding, and guaranteed there will be a pair that you fall in love with. These camo leggings are my favourite lounging item right now. Particularly because they are soft, comfortable and a great item to dress up or down.

The great thing about patterned leggings is that you can make them look awesome in an evening look, or a casual look! I decided to go with a more casual look, pairing these leggings with an off the shoulder, over sized, statement tee and chucks. However, I dress these leggings up frequently by pairing them with a dark top and a leather moto jacket!

Du North Designs is always my go-to for getting fun, new patterned things. They ship amazingly quick and are a Canadian company (which I love). I highly recommend heading over to their website to start shopping.

Start your patterned leggings journey now!

PRETTY GARDEN ESCAPE

Have you ever owned that one piece of clothing that just makes you feel pretty? It could be the simplest of items, but when you put it on you feel like a bright star. In my opinion, your whole wardrobe should make you feel that way! However, having those key staples in your closet, that you know you can throw on and feel like a princess is super important.

Kimono: c/o Pink Blush / Bodysuit: Forever 21 / Shorts: Charlotte Russe / Flip Flops: Old Navy

Summer is a time to get out and experiment with your fashion choices. I mean, you can always experiment (no matter the season), but spring/summer lines are full of unique patterns and prints to play with. My go-to summer pattern is a cute floral (as you can probably tell). I love how girly floral patterns can be, and how well they compliment solids (and even other prints as well!).

This particular pattern is one I fell in love with when I saw it on Pink Blush. I have a tendency to be drawn to wearing darker colours (there is a lot of dark in my wardrobe). When I chose it, I immediately pictured it in a fall ensemble. Therefore, I was a tad worried about how I would fashion it for this season. However, as soon as I unboxed it, I realized this is a total summer staple.

When the light catches this kimono, the reds and pinks are illuminated – almost eliminating the dark tone to it immediately. It’s mesmerizing (in my opinion), when it’s blowing in the wind and catching the sun rays – all the more reason to wear it over and over again.

This kimono speaks for itself. When putting this look together, I focused on pairing with items that elevated the kimono. I went for a light denim short because it doesn’t clash with the colours in the piece. The black bodysuit that I put underneath the kimono was primarily to go with the dark tone (I didn’t know how the reds and pinks would jump out in the light).

I feel pretty in Pink Blush. You should too.
