I love trying new fads and trends when looking in to my wardrobe. Last week, I combined two patterns of the same kind – plaid on plaid. I wore an obnoxiously loud red, plaid tunic from Old Navy and then threw on a warm and cozy blanket scarf. This look can really work with any transition season – Spring or Fall, in my opinion!
1 Plaid Shirt | 2 Quilted Jacket | 3 Ripped Distressed Jeans | 4 Statement Necklace | 5 Blanket Scarf | 6 Multi-Rings | 7 mark. by Avon “On the Edge” liquid eye liner | 8 Dior Nude Shade Lipstick | 9 L.L. Bean Boots
When combining two types of pattern, you want to make sure they are not completely identical. Change it up in some kind of way – either choose two colours that pair well together, like red with tan – both compliment each other well and one works as a neutral. Another difference you can play with is the size of the pattern. If you have a really large and loud pattern, like big flowers, pair it with a smaller print so that you don’t have two large patterns competing with one another.
That’s my fashion blurb for the day – more pattern mixing to come! Here is my rendition of the outfit above…
