Reading break is half over and that makes me a bit sad, but I am soaking every bit of it up! One of the benefits of being home is having access to TV and what does that mean? Access to all the awards shows I can watch! On Monday night, numerous stars walked the red carpet and showed their fab and drab sides for the 58th Annual Grammy Awards!
Today, I am bringing to you my favourite and not-so-favourite looks of Monday’s red carpet.
How gorgeous did Carrie Underwood look? My jaw literally dropped when I saw her grace the red carpet in this gorgeous black, strapless gown by Nicolas Jebran. The black against her sun-kissed skin is beyond beautiful, and I love how she has accessorized. A gorgeous statement piece on her neck tops off the look and truly wins her the carpet!
Anna always looks classic, in my opinion. I love how she went with a classic black dress, but chose an Emanuel Ungaro dress with some intricate detail. The mesh cutouts are sultry and sexy, but don’t reveal too much and the slit up the side is just fabulous enough to show off her beautiful Jimmy Choo’s.
I don’t think there is a Kaley Cuoco red carpet look out there that I don’t like! Simplicity was the focal point for this look…but not in the way that you think. Simple glam is what I would call this look since this silver jumpsuit by Naeem Khan is simply fabulous! My favourite part of this jumpsuit is the wide pant leg…the 90s are coming back people and I can’t say I’m sad about it!
Breathtaking is one of many words to describe Ellie Goulding’s ensemble on Monday night. First of all, this custom blush pink gown by Stella McCartney is gorgeous on her! I can’t help but love this soft pink look on Ellie. She looked like she was gliding down the carpet like an angel – so natural and elegant.
Is it just me, or does this kind of resemble Kim K’s gown at the 2015 InStyle Awards? I’m not one to heavily criticize, but I personally don’t feel that this type of gown/cape thing by Yousef Al-Jasmi is attractive in white. Although Chrissy walked the carpet with pride, and looked super adorable with John Legend…this look just didn’t do it for me.
I am one of Selena’s biggest fans…but I am not a fan of this sparkly Calvin Klein dress that she has going on here. Don’t get me wrong, the sparkles are cool and the colour is gorgeous…but I think she could have aired more on the elegant side as opposed to the showing massive amounts of skin side. Better luck next time Sel…
I just want to point out that T-Swift was amazing in her opener to the show but I was not impressed with her red carpet look. Taylor’s two piece by Atelier Versace was not getting cheers from me…why? I really cannot place the reason. I don’t know if it’s the colours that clash, or the majorly high split directly up the front of her ensemble that got me…but nevertheless, I just can’t get on board.
Okay, this was probably my least favourite of the night! Although that hair colour is fab, the suit by Dsquared2 is not doing it for me. Now, I want to make it clear that it is not the fact that is is a suit and not a dress…it is the style of suit she chose. It’s not tailored properly, it is bland and the collar is not pressed (is the collar supposed to be popped? Or should it be down?)…this was a red carpet lose for Zendaya, unfortunately.
There were some really great looks at this year’s Grammys, but with every red carpet event, some people look amazing and some people could have looked more amazing (that’s the nicest way to put it…). It always looks like a tremendously fun night and musically, the place was filled to the brim with talented individuals…stay tuned for this year’s Oscars…I have only the best planned next week for this star studded event…
