Being connected to the blogging community, there are a lot of different Facebook groups that I have joined in order to promote and support other blogs in addition to my own (bloggers support bloggers, right?). Through these communities, I have met many bloggers in different niches and created great friendships. So when the opportunity arose to take over the Instagram of The Blog Love Project, I jumped at the chance.
I have never participated in an Instagram takeover, and it was a great experience that I will definitely do again! The takeover just happened to be on the day I was heading into the city to see a baseball game!! It was such a sunny, hot and overall amazing day which was great for posting pictures!
In today’s post, I am going to review my takeover of The Blog Project and tell you the story of what a day it was!!
August 16, 2015 – What a Morning!
Bright and early on Sunday morning, I woke up to the bright sun and clear skies – perfect for a baseball game! Before I took over The Blog Love Project, I thought about how I wanted to go about posting. Did I want to post every hour? Every two hours? Well…there are some guidelines when taking over an account. You don’t want to completely spam the account – viewers will get bored of you, or they will get tired of seeing your posts!
Spread out the photos. This will create more activity because the viewers that are looking will look forward to seeing the next few posts instead of thinking that you post too much!!
The game was absolutley fantastic, and even though my friends and I were up in the “nose-bleed seats”, we still had a grand ole’ time!! The advantage of having seats up above is you can see all of the action from a distance, and at the same time, you can enjoy the sun (wearing sunscreen, of course!). Being the style blogger that I am, I love the baseball look. I got to rep my hometown’s team, while looking pretty cute (if I do say so myself!). Throughout the day, I made sure to tell a story in the takeover.
Leave your viewers wanting more. That is one tip that is great! When you have a picture limit (which for me was 6-8 photos), you want to make sure that those photos engage the viewers! I tried to promote the next activity I was going to do, so that when a viewer reads the caption…they remember to look back for more! You are telling a story, essentially!
To end the takeover, I gave a last look at the field (after a great win!), a snap of the CN tower and then a quick shot of my comfy shoes for the ride home! I wanted to tie the whole takeover together by showing me going home and ending the day on a good note! All in all, it was a lovely day, and it only seemed right to end the takeover with the end of my day!
Keeping it under ten photos. Ten photos in a day is plenty for a takeover…or even your personal account! I kept the number at eight (mainly because of the guidelines that I was given). That is a great number though! Keeps you away from the “spam” category and also allows you to tell a story throughout the day!
Taking over The Blog Project‘s Instagram was entertaining and such a great way to connect with other viewers! I highly recommend you check out their blogger group on Facebook and try for an opportunity to do it yourself. At the very least, you will meet some amazing people and form relationships (perfect for new bloggers!).
